With so much to do inDisney Dreamlight Valley, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and lose track of different objectives, like cooking, tending your garden, or clearing away pesky Night Thorns and Splinters of Fate. These are usually optional tasks, but often necessary ones when trying to organize your valley, maintain your energy, and complete quests.
With the A Rift In Time Expansion Pass, the introduction of Ancient Machines can speed up these tasks and make work around the valley much easier. Though each one is helpful, some are more useful than others. Here are the Ancient Machines, ranked according to how helpful they are overall.
3Ancient Vacuum
The Ancient Vacuumscans the area in a Biomewhen placed. During the scan, it searches for Night Thorns and Splinters of Fate. The Ancient Vacuum will gather the items from these respawning entities and hold them for you. You cancollect the ones you wantwhenever they’re ready for a small price.
Rather than expending energy and time yourself and clearing away the Night Thorns and Splinters of Fate, you can let the machine gather the resources for you. Thesmall bit of Mist it requires to collect themis worth it so that you can focus your efforts elsewhere.
You don’t have to collect every item that the vacuum picks up. If you don’t want them, you’re able to leave them in the vacuum.
The Ancient Vacuum is a bit of an odd machine at first, and while it is helpful, it’s the least impressive out of the three. Its usefulness is outmatched by the other machines, though havingresources collected from Night Thorns and Splinters of Fatein exchange for a bit of Mist is beneficial and time-saving.
You can upgrade the Ancient Vacuum to detect even more item types!
2Ancient Cooker
The Ancient Cooker is a wonderful machine thatcan cook multiple of a dish. Rather than cooking each individual dish one at a time, you’re able to compile your ingredients in the cooker, select the quantity, and cook them all at once.
This is perfect forcooking dishes that restore plenty of energy, like theThousand Needles recipe, in batches to collect later. You can cook up to ten at a time and leave them to cook while you do other heroic things around the valley.
You’ll need to make sure you have enough ingredients and coal to make each dish.
The cost for cooking in bulk is Mist. You’ll bespending up to 250 Mist at a timeto cook a batch of dishes, which saves you from having to individually prep them at your kitchen. However, it will take time for each dish to be made. The actual time investment is longer than if you made the dishes yourself.
If you change your mind, you can cancel the action as well, and you canclaim the dishes as they are ready.
Whether you make a one-star dish or a five-star dish, you’ll pay the same cost of 25 Mist per dish to have the Ancient Cooker make it for you.
However, you buy yourself the freedom to work on other duties while waiting for your meals to be prepared. For that reason, the Ancient Cooker is a better machine than the vacuum, but it’s not the best Ancient Machine you can make overall.
Upgrading the Ancient Cooker will allow you to cook more dishes in a batch at a time, saving you even more time and effort in the long-run.
1Ancient Gardener
Gardening isone of the most lucrative activitiesin Dreamlight Valley, especially when you set aside large plots of land for crops like pumpkins. However, the time investment to run large gardens can be exhausting, especially once you start hitting hundreds of crops that need to be planted, watered, and harvested.
The Ancient Gardener takes most of the work out for you. In exchange for Mist, it can dig the surrounding spots for you, plant the seeds you select, water the crops, and harvest them as well.
The basic Ancient Gardener will care for 15 crops at a time, and you’re able to upgrade the machine to expand your gardening empire.
The amount of time and energy it takes to look after large gardens can take hours in real-time, depending on the in-game weather conditions and size of the garden you build. Ancient Gardeners can helpharvest cash crops for youso you can focus on other endeavors.
While you won’t get the bonus of harvesting them with a villager in that role, it’s much faster. You don’t have to use the Ancient Machine to harvest the crops, but if you’re in a pinch and need the cash quickly, you canexhange Mist for a speedy harvest.
The Ancient Gardener is themost useful of the three Ancient Machinesthanks to the work it does to streamline gardening.
