WhileCoral Islandis usually a pretty straightforward game, sometimes it can get a little confusing to figure out where quest items come from. Sometimes, you’ll receive a letter from one of the Townies asking for what you think is a pretty generic item, only to find out that the quest itself asks for something a little more complicated.
This phenomenon isn’t just restricted to humans, though. Occasionally, you’ll get a Giant or two asking you for something specific, and Gong is one such Giant. His special fascination with humans inspires him to walk among the villagers, but he can’t do that without your help in creating a fitting disguise.
Gong’s Request
At some point after freeing the Water Giant Gong, you will find himin the town square playing with Archie and Taco.Shortly after triggering Gong’s cutscene in the town square,Gong will ask you to meet him in the Giants Villageto discuss the next steps of his grand plan.
The Giants Village is the location west of your farm, andyou can get there the fastest by taking the left-most exit of your farmand continuing down that path. There is also afast-travel shrine right outside of the Giants Village.
Gong’s Plan & Assembling The Disguise
Gong realizes that not just any disguise will successfully transform him into a human, sohe enlists your help and Grog’s to complete his ensemble.After talking to Gong in the village, he will send you a letter in the mail.
In the letter, Gong explains that he needs you to find him four different ingredients to create his masterful disguise:a Royal Grape Blazer, one flower, a pair of Round Stylish Glasses, and three pieces of Wool.
Most of Gong’s requests are easy to fill, asyou can use any flower and any kind of wool to fill his request, which makes gathering the farming ingredients much simpler. Of course, you’ll need to have a wool-producing animal on your farm to get wool, so the earliest wool-bearing animal you’re able to have is the sheep,which produces one Wool every three days and lives in a regular barn.
To get the Round Stylish Glasses, you can go to two places. The most reliable way to get the glasses is by heading to Antonio’s clothing store, The White Flamingo,where he sells the Round Stylish Glasses for a flat rate of850 coral coins.
The second placeyou can buy the glasses is at Ben’s caravan. However, there’s no guarantee that Ben will sell the glasses every time he is open, andthe price varies from 630-1,260 coral coinsdepending on the dayand your relationship level with Ben.
Once that’s out of the way, the next item is the Royal Grape Blazer,which is also the most expensive piece.You can buy the blazerat The White Flamingo for 2,700 coral coins, or you can also get itat the Winter Fair Shop for 2,160 coral coins.
If you’re willing to be patient, the mostcost-effective time to finish the quest is during the Winter time, since you’ll be able to buy the glasses at Ben’s caravan for a discount, and then the Royal Grape Blazer for a discount at the Winter Fair.
Once you’ve gathered all the required components,bring them with you to Gong at the Giants Village.
Disguise Wanted - Quest Rewards
Once you bring Gong the items he requested, Gong will hop onto Grog’s shoulders, don the disguise, andbecome a new man - er, Giant - named Handsome.From now on,you’ll occasionally find Handsome wandering around the human villagepartaking in silly antics, like drinking straight out of the fountain like a dog.
Meeting Handsome alsocounts as meeting one of the ‘Extra’ characters in your player journal.You’ll alsogain two heart levels with Gongas a reward for completing this quest.
