Among the many materials you can get are gems that you can get from mining, such as Ruby. In order to turn Rough Ruby into Cut Ruby, and for what to do with it, here’s what you need to know.
How To Get Rough Ruby
to find Ruby, you’ll need tohead on over to the Dry Valley. Findany caveyou can, and go inside.
Make sure to haveitems that give youheat resistance. You will likely have todeal with Burning temperatures, especially in the Lava Caves.
Look forore deposits that are a shiny red, and mine these to getRough Ruby. Typically, each gem deposit will give youtwo Rough Ruby pieces. Be prepared tobuild some staircasesto get to some of the harder-to-reach gem deposits.
You willneed at least one Rare Pickaxe to break apart Ruby deposits, otherwise your pickaxe will just bounce off of them. You cancraft a Rare Pickaxe on a Rare Crafting Bench or betterwith the following recipe:

Be careful toavoid skeletons throwing Dynamite at you. If they catch you off guard, you canlose a significant portion of your health. Stock up on healing food items in case you need them.
How To Make Cut Ruby
Once you’ve collectedRough Ruby, the next step is toturn it into Cut Ruby.
You will need to havebuilt a Gem Cutter, which is one of theutility stations you can find in the build menu.After gathering the required materials, you canbuild a Gem Cutter with this recipe:

Simply put Rough Ruby into the Gem Cutter, andit will process it into Cut Ruby. The exchange rate is one to one.
What Is Ruby Used For?
While havingRubyisn’t fully necessary to progress in the game, you’ll want to gather a bunch tomake better weapons and gear.
