These sneaky slimes aren’t a big fan of fighting, being caught, or seen in general, but if you may beat them, you’ll be amply rewarded, but it’s not easy. Metal Slimes have impressive defenses and the ability to skedaddle in seconds, but it’s worth seeking them out. If you want to know how to get the drop on these slimes, look no further.

All Metal Slime Types You Can Find

You’ll be able to findthree different types of Metal Slimethroughout the game: regularMetal Slimes,Liquid Metal Slimes, andMetal King Slimes. These rare enemies start showing up once youreach the early Middle Echelons, such as theCircle of Caprice, but have an extremely low chance of spawning, at around four to five percent.

These slimes havesome of the highest defense statsin the game, often taking no damage, but alsoonly have a handful of HP, such as mostregular Metal Slimesonlyhaving around three HP.

You canobtain a free Metal Slime,Liquid Metal Slime, andMetal King Slimeby acquiring andturning in certain amounts of Mini Medalsat the Maulosseum.

In return for their low spawn rate,Metal Slimes of any typewillalways spawn in the same spots. They havea set number of locations where they can be found on any Echelon, so if you see one, you can keep returning to that spot to get them to spawn again.

Metal Slimes

Regular Metal Slimes are thefirst type you’ll often encounter, and they’llstart spawningonce youreach the Middle Echelons. Theycanalso be found in the Upper Echelonsas well, but you’re more likely to find their more advanced counterparts instead of them.

Liquid Metal Slimes

Liquid Metal Slimes are thesecond type of Metal Slimeyou can run into normally, and they’llstart spawning in the Upper Echelons, such as theCircle of Fortitude - Upper Echelon. These slimes not onlyhave better stats than regular Metal Slimes butcan also do a surprising amount of damage to your partyif they decide not to flee.

Metal King Slimes

As their name suggests, Metal King Slimes are the kings of the Metal Slime types and canreach upwards of 1,200 defense at max level, but they aren’t nearly as strong as the other two Metal Slime types.Metal King Slimes exclusively spawn in the Upper Echelons, and are needed to fuse some of the most powerful monsters in the Slime family.

Where To Find Metal Slimes

Metal Slimescan be found in almost every Echelon in the game,except forthe early gameLower Echelons. They alsoappear during every weather condition, and their spawn rate and locations remain consistent,except for Metal King Slimes if you’ve increased their spawn rate.

How To Beat Metal Slimes

Metal Slimes might seem impossible to beat at first, but it’s possible tobeat and scout them if you come prepared with specific traits, skills, and some handy items. All Metal Slimes types are also extremely weak to Sleep and Stun, so you may utilize Sleep and Stun against them to keep Metal Slimes from running.

Elemental attacks do no damageto Metal Slimes, sodon’t bother with breath skills or spells.

As long as they don’t run on the first turn, you canuse a fast monsterlike aDamselfly, Rockin' Rockhopper, or Sugar Star Slimetohit them with these status effects. Even without a trait like Crafty Sleeper or Crafty Stunner, they’ll often get hit with the status effect consistently.

Toget past their incredible defense stats, there are somespecific skills and traitsthat canbreach them or nullify them entirely:

Arriving in the Circle of Fortitude’s Middle Echelon and getting a red and pink title card for its name and view of the area in  Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.

Alongside skills, there are ahandful of battle items that affect metal slimes, particularly the Pinball. The Pinballdoes a tiny amount of damage, butalways hits metal slimes, and often enough will put them in range of being defeated.

Certainskills such as Withering Lookarebased on attack stats and havedamage that increases with a monster’s level, and they canhelp with defeating Metal Slimes.

How To Increase Metal King Slime Spawn Rate

If you want to increase the rate of Metal King Slimes for better late-game grinding,you’ll have to get quite a few things done.First, you’ll need to have beaten the final boss, and also you’ll need to get access to the post-game area,The Whispwoods, where you must beat all four post-game bosses availablein the area:Estark Venjah, the Wyrmhole Dragon, Azabel, and finally, the super-boss, Ludo.

How To Beat Ludo

Ludo is anextremely powerful bossand comes withsome of the strongest attacksin the game, such as Gigacross and Parallax, and caneasily one or two-shot many monsterseven if you’re properly prepared.

TheBigger Upper traitcarried by monsters such as the Saccharine Sacksquatch canhelp your survivalthanks to itrandomly adding immunities to damage, breath attacks, and spellseach time said monster uses a buff spell.

Once youdefeat Ludo at the Whispwoodsfor the final time, he’ll disappear after a brief cutscene, and you’ll get a message saying your adventure isn’t over yet.Head back into the doorway at the Ancient Tree, and you’ll find a large Slime there on the platform now, sorun to it tocommence a battle against it, an Angel Slime, and a Dark Slime.

Thanks to their levels,they’ll be doing quite a bit of damage, especially the Slime with its AOE spells such as Kazapple, but it’s nowhere near as difficult as Ludo or the previous fights. Follow your usual tactics, andonce you’ve got both of them defeated, you’ll find King Metal Slimes are much more common around the Upper Echelons.
