What Are The High Security Vaults?
And Who Has Each Key
While frowned upon by the guards of the establishment, The Counting House has no shortage of places to break into. However, there arenine vaults that contain particularly valuable goodswith keys scattered across the city of Baldur’s Gate–namely, the pockets of some particularly important characters.
TheHigh Security Vaultsare the vaults in the deepest part of the Counting House, where you’ll findRakathGlitterbeard. Even getting to the Counting House’s most secure vaults is a struggle. You’ll need to procure yourself a bank pass,enter a secret code, and last but not least, kill some of Bhaal’s cultists.
While even getting this far has enough obstacles of its own, you’ve still got a lot of work to do before you’re able to open the High Security Vaults.Unless you can pass each vault’s lock-picking DC of 30, you’ll need the keys to reap their rewards.
However, this does guarantee that if you miss a key or two, you’ll still have a way to get the rewards inside.

This book is on the first level of the Counting House in plain view, on a table before the staircase to the right. It informs you that the key will be with the head of each particular household:

High Security Vault Key 1
Pickpocket Captain Grisly
While this key is said to belong to the Lorroakan household,you can find this key onCaptain Grisly at the Blushing Mermaid. She’ll be upstairs in the room to the right of the stairs, at aboutX: -116, Y: 88. You cansimply pickpocketthis key off of Captain Grisly.

Reach Lady Jannath’s Bedroom
This key can be found onLady JannathatLady Jannath’s Estate. She’s already connected to the Free the Artistquest, but you don’t have to finish it to obtain the key,although you may want to prepare for a bit of a fight to get to her.you may find her in her bedroom on the third floor of her home, aboutX: 251, Y: -45.

Defeat Cazador
While getting toCazador’s Dungeonis no easy feat, you’ll have to make your way there (not to mention that you’ll also have todefeat Cazadorhimself) if you want his vault key.The key will be inside his sarcophagus, at roughlyX: -1926, Y: 946.
High Security Vault Key 4
Sneak Into The Private Quarters
To find this vault key, you need to make your way to theWater Queen’s House. A guard will try to keep you out, butyou’ll need to get into the room upstairs.
It will require a very sneaky character orinvisibility, either through a potion or spell, but you need to make your way into the private quarters and loot the Opulent Chest inside. The door to this room is atX: -220, Y: -251.

Loot The Secret Safe
Despite being listed as the Ravengard family’s key,vault key five is instead, predictably, with Lord Enver Gortash.After defeating Gortash, you can explore the uppermost level of Wyrm’s Rock Fortress with ease. As you do,you’ll discover a safe hidden behind a paintingat aboutX: -34, Y: 202.
You can open the safe withGortash’s Key, looted from his body. Inside the safe, you’ll find vault key five.
High Security Vault Key 6
Don’t Miss The Opulent Chest
The key actually associated with Gortash’s family name is in a bit more daunting location—the Iron Throne.
It’s possible to miss this key, so be sure to take the time to grab it while you’re there.
You’ll be in quite the rush with limited turns, soa Potion of Speed, a Haste spell, or any other way to boost movement speedand grant yourself additional actions will come in handy. It will be in an Opulent Chest at aboutX: -50, Y: 98.

Pickpocket Or Kill Keene
You’ll have to pickpocket this key off a master criminal herself, or kill her, depending on which route you decide. Either way,you’re able to find this key (and alotof knives) on Nine-Fingers Keenein theGuildhallunder the city. She’ll be at her desk in her office at aboutX: -37, Y: 775.

Unlock The Jewelry Box
This vault key is likely one of the most challenging to acquire, as it means you’ll have to undergo a tough boss fight to get to it. You need to find your way to theHouse of Grief, where Shadowheart’s companion quest leads you. Eventually,you’ll need to either betray Shadowheart or defeat Viconia DeVir, the Mother Superior.
Once you defeat her, which is no small task, you can lootViconia’s Personal Chest Keyfrom her corpse.
Just off of the main chamber where the fight ensued in Shar’s cloister is theDormitory. At the back of this roomyou’ll find a jewelry box, which Viconia’s key will open. you may find the jewelry box atX: -399, Y: -1591.

Pickpocket Rakath Or Complete His Quest
To get your hands on the final key,you’ll need to complete the questReturn Rakath’s Gold—or, you can just pickpocket him for the key. Either way, you’ll obtain vault key nine and gain access to one of the best rewards these vaults have to offer.

Enchanted Weapons And Armour Galore
Nearly all of these vaults include gold or some treasure to sell, buttheir most valuable loot is the enchanted weapons and armor they contain. Additionally, with characters such as Duke Ravengard, you’re able to find personal effects that will tell you more about the characters connected to these vaults.

Nymph Cloak: Grants spellDominate Person.Spell Savant Amulet: Grants an additional level two spell slot.
Jannath’s Hat: Advantage on Persuasion and Deception checks.
The Long Arm of the Gur: Grants an additional +1d4 to attack and damage rolls against undead.
Trident of the Waves: Creates a surface of water around the target on a successful hit.
Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen
Knock Knuckle Gloves: Grants spell Knock, and +1 to sleight of hand checks.
Jewelry, gems, and gold.
Elegant Studded Armor: Grants a +2 bonus to initiative, Advantage on Stealth rolls, and the spell Shield.
