Deciding where to build your village inLego FortniteOdysseycan be a daunting task when you’re first starting out. Do you want to be near caves or the beach? What monsters are nearby? What types of resources will you need to build and maintain the village?
Additionally, you may wonder if you can build in one of the other biomes, or if you should establish your village near them to be close to resources. Here in this guide we will explain the benefits and restrictions of each biome, and what you can expect when building your village in either one.

Updated on June 25, 2025 by Connie Watson: With the new Lost Isles biome and the Storm King’s invasion, there are more places to build a village, and more resources to obtain for crafting. We’ve updated this guide to include all the new information.
Where Should You Build Your Village?
In Lego Fortnite you’ll find three main biomes:The Grasslands,Dry Valley, andThe Frostlands.
Where you build your village willsolely depend on how far along you are in the game. Two of the three biomes haveextreme temperaturesthat can damage your health without proper protection. The enemies you’ll find there are alsostrongerandmore dangerous.

If youjust started a brand new world, your first village should be built inthe Grasslands. This will allow you toforage and progressuntil you’re able to visit the other biomes.
Let’s go over eachbiome individuallyto explain whatresources they provide, whatanimals you’ll encounter, andwhat you’ll need to build a village in each one.

The Grasslands: Tips, Resources, And Food Sources
The Grasslands are full ofsweeping plains, rolling hills, andrich green grass.
It has a temperate climate, so the only times you have to worry about being cold isduring the night or sometimes when it rains.

You’ll find caves scattered all over the landscape of The Grasslands. We recommend finding a flat areathat’snear one of the cavesas you’ll need to enter it often to harvest resources.
When you’re ready to start building your base, you’ll first need to craft a Village Square, which requires the following ingredients:

Village Square Recipe
12 x Wood
When you’re able to,building a fence around your villagecan help lower the chances ofenemies invading your base.

A few skeletons may spawn inside, still, but you’llhave to deal with far fewer enemies at night this way.
