Lump’s War Horn is a special offensive item inBaldur’s Gate 3that you may access by passing skill checks against the three ogres in Blighted Village. Three ogres can be found in a broken-down house discussing food. You have to let them know if you are food or friend.

The two ways to get Lump to give you the horn are by using Skill Checks to convince him that fighting for you is necessary or by simply paying him a generous fee. Lump’s War Horn summons all three ogres to your aid in battle, but when should you really use it? And how does the ogre’s horn work?

Baldur’s Gate 3 Lump and friends in Blighted Village

Can You Use The Ogre Horn More Than Once In BG3?

You will find yourself being able to useLump’s War Hornaround three timesin Act 1.

There are some caveats: the war horncannot be activated on another planeor level, such as the Underdark, and itcannot be used past Act 1.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Dror Ragzlin and Minthara

The first time you use the horn is free because you either convinced them to work for you or you paid them. After using the horn for the first time, you will need to convince them to continue being available.

If one ogre died during combat, the next time you summon them, only two will show up. If you want to keep the ogres at hand for different fights in Act 1, you have to treat them well in battle and make sure they don’t die.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Druid Catching Player Stealing in Druid Grove

It is important to note thatLump’s War Horn can only be activated when the character using it is actively in combat. The ogre’s spawn location can also be ruined if the room you spawn them in is too small or has a lot of obstacles.

Dror Ragzlin Fight

Taking over the goblin camp is one of the more difficult tasks in Act 1. You will be severely outnumbered, butthere are ways to get through the camp without having to kill every single goblin.

The only people you need to kill to dismantle the goblin camp are the three leaders, Minthara, Dror Ragzlin, and Priestess Gut.Dror Ragzlin is the hardest fight of the three leadersas he is stronger and will have more enemies at his side. If you have chosen to side with the tieflings and druids in taking down the goblin camp, then you should use Lump’s War Horn for Dror Ragzlin.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Halfing Using Lump’s War Horn In Swamp

The room Ragzlin is in is shaped weirdly and can cause the ogres to spawn outside of the room, therefore agroing other enemies in the camp. If you plan to use the horn for this fight, you should travel to the far back of the room so that the ogres spawn at the center. If you activate the horn while in the middle or front of the room, there is a chance the ogres will spawn outside.

Taking Over The Druid Grove

Perhaps you don’t want to take down the goblin camp and have sided with Minthara instead. This means an all-out war in the Druid Grove. Once again, you will be a bit outnumbered and must slaughter every civilian within the grove. This is a very time-consuming fight.

Taking over the Druid Grove isn’t the most challenging of combat in the game, butusing the ogres can speed up your progressby giving you more allies to distract enemies with. The ogres will be able to squash tieflings and druids with ease. Because the grove is an open space, it won’t be difficult to spawn them here.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Githyanki Patrol with Red Dragon Behind Him

Swamp Fight

You can’t bring Lump and friends into Auntie Ethel’s lair, but you can take down any enemies in her swamp. The red caps roaming around won’t be a big problem for you, the harder fight is at the southmost part of the swamp area.

There are Ancient Mud Mephits and Wood Woads here. The Ancient Mud Mephits spawn more mephits with each turn, and they explode upon death, dealing damage to everything. There is also mud everywhere making it hard for your characters to move.

Lump’s horn works perfectly well here, and it won’t be hard to spawn the ogres in because of the large open space. The mephits will barely deal damage to the ogres.Lump and friends will be able to take down the mephits with ease, making everything easier for you.

Githyanki Patrol Fight

Bumping into the Githyanki Patrol in Act 1 may be the worst mistake you make. Githyanki are known for their ruthlessness, and you will find out why when you find them at the Risen Roads, North of Blighted Village.

No matter what part of the game you are at, fighting Githyanki is difficult and terrifying. They are very strong opponents. Some players have decided to use Lump’s War Horn only here, sacrificing the ogresin order to take down the patrol. That’s right, even the ogres will struggle against these Githyanki.

If you want to save the war horn for the hardest fight in Act 1,you should use it here, but be ready for the ogres to die, meaning you won’t be able to use the horn again.
