There are miles and miles of square feet you may explore inLego Fortniteafter you drop into a new world. As you survive by crafting new items and fighting off both enemies and starvation, you’ll need to find ways to travel.

For a large chunk of time, running around on your own two Lego feet will have to suffice. But as you get increasingly better gear and access to more rare materials, you’ll be able to develop other ways of traveling around the map. You can even attempt to build a car, and here’s how to put one together.

A Lego players looks through the “Toys” tab of the build menu.

How To Get Materials For A Car

Even afterfully leveling up your first villageand upgrading to an Epic Crafting Bench, there won’t be specific builds you’re able to access to make a fully formed car.You will have tocobble together some Dynamic objectsto get something that can move.

First things first, you will need to progress enough in Lego Fortnite to where you have both theRare Crafting Bench and access to the Dry Valley. By this point, you should be able tochop down cactuses in the Dry Valley to get Flexwood.

A Lego player stands on top of a Dynamic Foundation with wheels attached to it.

The other importantmaterial you will need to have found isBlast Powder. The easiest way to gather this item is bydefeating Skeletons that come out at night in the Dry Valley.

Once you’re able to get to the materials you’ll need, everything will revolve aroundthe ability tomake a Dynamic Foundation, which you need in order tocreate a moveable vehicle.

Then, afterdiscovering the necessary materials, you’ll be able to find several different craftable items in the“Toys” tab of your build menu.

How To Build A Basic Car

If you’re looking toget somewhere or transport items quickly in a straightforward direction, you can put together a basic car.

ensure tostart building a car on level ground, otherwise your car might start to run away from you once you add wheels.

A Lego player looks at Activation Switches that can turn a car in different directions.

Here are thesteps to making a simple car build:

Destroying a Wheel or Thruster will, unfortunately, not return its crafting materials to you.Keep this in mind if you end up making a mistake and need to re-do something.

Now, anytime youturn on the Activation Switch, it willturn on the Thruster attached to the Dynamic Foundation. This interaction is whatpropels your car forward.

However, this basic car will only go in one direction: forward. If you need to shift direction, you will need tohop off and push the vehicle to face another directionanytime you want to go somewhere different.

How To Steer A Car

While it can be fairly straightforward to make a basic car, getting one tosteer in the direction you wantis a bit more complicated. Thereisn’t some kind of steering wheelthat you may attach just yet, and unless you want to hop off any time you need to turn, you’ll need to create a workaround.

Because an Activation Switch will turn onanyThruster attached to a Dynamic Foundation, you will need to build a mechanism that allows forthe Thrusters that control turning to be “separate” from your Dynamic Foundation.

You’ll start off the same way bybuilding a Dynamic Foundation.Next, the goal is tobuild a walled or fenced-in areathat enclosestwo towers that will be your turning mechanism.

At the right step, you will need topartially destroy each tower so it drops into the fenced-in area, and can be used without being attached to the main Dynamic Foundation.

The towers need to contain abase pillar attached to the Dynamic Foundation, asmall pillar above it, and aFloor piece on top of itthat will “catch” on the surrounding fence.

You want to thenattach a Small Thruster to each tower piece, facing the correct way to push in the direction you’ll need. Also, attach Activation Switches to the tower piecesso that you can interact with them while “driving” your car.

Next, destroy the lower part of each tower. If everything works right, theupper parts of the towers will drop into the fenced area, and the Small Thrusters can beturned on by their respective Activation Switches.

Finish up your car byadding four wheels, and then aLarge Thrusterin the center of the rear of the Dynamic Foundation. The last piece will be to attachan Activation Switch on the Dynamic Foundationto control the car’s Large Thruster.

Now, you can cruise around relatively easily. While driving, activate the Small Thrusters on each tower toshift your car direction in the way you want.

Make sure tohave plenty of extra supply of the crafting materials you needfor all this. Itmight take a little trial and error to get this workaround working correctly, depending on what build pieces you have available to you at the time.
