What’s the difference between Hazard Level D and Hazard Level C? Does a high Hazard Level means packing up your ship and abandoning the moon at all costs, or is it worth the risk? We’ll answer the questions you might have about Hazard Levels, and what it means for your scrap-collecting career.

Hazard Levels, Explained
Hazard Levels is a system that gives you ageneral ideaofhow difficult your day will beon a planet.
The Hazard Level determines how much theloot on a planet is worth, and theamount of monsters you’ll encounteron a given planet, andalsoincreases the chances of more dangerous enemies spawning, such as the Snare Flea or the Thumper.

Dangerous enemiesstill have a chance to spawnon a planet with alower Hazard Level, such as a single Brackenspawning on aplanet with Hazard Level C.
There are a total ofsix Hazard Levels, and they range from D, the least threatening, to S+, the most threatening. Each planetisgiven a Hazard Levelwhen you stop orbiting andload onto it, and itcan changebetween tripsto a planet.

How Dangerous It Is
D (Least Threatening)
There arelittle to no hostile creaturesinside the complex and on the surface of the planet.
C (Somewhat Threatening)
There areonly a few hostile enemiesinside the complex and on the surface of the planet.
B (Threatening)
There is amoderate number of enemiesinside the complex and on the surface of the planet.
A (Highly Threatening)
There is ahigh number of enemiesinside the complex and on the surface of the planet.
S (Extremely Threatening)
There is anextremely high number of enemiesinside the complex and on the surface of the planet.
S+ (The Most Threatening)
There is aneven higher number of enemiesinside the complex and on the surface of the planetcompared to Hazard Level S
What Effects A Planet’s Hazard Level?
A planet’sHazard Levelis primarilyinfluenced by three factors: thetype of weatherthe planet iscurrently experiencing, thebasedifficulty of the moonthat you’re traveling to, and arandom factor.
Each of theeight moonsyou canexplore for lootalso has itsown base difficulty levelthat effects themost likelyHazard Levelit will receivegiven no weather conditions.

Hard (Hazard Level A)
Planets have asmall chanceof beinggenerated at a lower Hazard Levelthan whatever their most common one is.
While weather patternsdon’t have their specific difficulty levelslike the planets do, they can besplit into two categories; low hazard conditions and high hazard conditions, andall fiveweather conditionstend to raise the Hazard Level.
The fifth weather condition,Foggy, comes inthree different typesof fog –light, heavy and stinkcloud– and eachadds itsown amount of difficultytowards a planet’s Hazard Level, except for stinkcloud.
While weather conditions can be separated into two categories, every weather condition is dangerous, including the least threatening one,Rainy, whichcauses quicksand pools to appear.
For example, the planet41-Experimentationwillmost often be Hazard Level D or C,as it’s considered an easy planet, but loading onto the planet while it’s under aweather conditionsuch asStormy or Floodedcan make itHazard Level C, or even B.
