When it comes to getting stronger inLies of P, your first instinct might be togrind Ergoto increase your stats as fast as possible. With Soft Caps put in place to make your journey a little more complicated, getting stronger isn’t as simple as having higher numbers.
Eventually, the benefits of leveling will become smaller and smaller. But this isn’t explained in the game itself. To fully understand what a Soft Cap is and how to navigate the complexities of level-ups, we’ve comprised a few helpful definitions and a mighty table that will make visualizing your build so much easier.
What Are Soft Caps?
Soft Caps are the points during the progression of a statwhere the benefits and bonuses you gain from increasing that stat begin to lessenor taper off. This means that the benefit you gain from moving a stat from Level 11 to Level 12will not be the same as moving a stat from Level 45 to 46.
The returns you get as you increase levelswill slowly diminish over time. Therefore, keeping track of where these Soft Caps arewill help you determinewhere you wish to invest your level-up pointsand how you can optimize your current build.
Eventually, by placing enough points into a stat, a Soft Cap should become a Hard Cap, and in other souls and soulslike games,this would be the point where you receive no more bonuses.
However, in Lies of P,there is no set Hard Cap beyond having a maximum stat level.No stat can be increased past 100, butyou can receive a small benefit up until that point.
Capacity is the only stat that does not appear to have a Soft Capwith a +3 to your Weight Load and Legion for each level up.Advance also does not have a normal Soft Capfor the Legion bar or your Defensive stats, though it does have a Soft Cap for outgoing damage.
What Are The Soft Cap Thresholds?
Each stat has roughly the same level thresholds, but the payoff for each stat will differ slightly. Some bonuses may be one or two levels off,as certain stats can have odd group intervals of three or eight instead of five or ten.
