8Get Comfortable With One Of The Modes

To Build Or Not To Build?

There are two types of main modes in OG Fortnite. If you’recoming back after a long timeto experience the nostalgia, then you might not know about Zero Build. There’s that and the basic Battle Royale mode. The latter includes the building that has become a staple of the Epic Games title.

If you want to ensure a Victory Royale, you should give both a try and pick the one that suits you best for future games. Select the BR mode or the Zero Build mode and get used to it. If you find yourself losing to players building five-star hotels in seconds, then put your focus on Zero Build. Whichever one you choose, stick with it.

Grab Some Friends To Win

You don’t have to drop out of the Battle Bus alone. Solo gameplay is a good way to learn the ropes, but if you truly want to win, you’ll want to find a squad. There are duo queues and four-player squad queues. These let you load in with a pre-made team or fill with random players who might be good or bad.

Playing with a squad makes it easier to survive as a whole in OG Fortnite. You can have someone watching your back or even taking fire for you as you get into position. Communication is extremely important while in a squad, but having up to four players firing weapons sounds a lot better than just one.

6Grab A Diverse Loadout

Pick Up A Variety Of Weapons

One vital tip is in regard toyour available weapons. Of course, things might be left to RNG in OG Fortnite. You do have to get a bit lucky with the loot you find. After searching a few areas or tallying some eliminations and taking their gear, you should be set.

You’ll want to ensure your loadout is as diverse as can be. Don’t run around with two assault rifles or two shotguns. Make sure you have all of your bases covered. Get some explosives, some healing items, and at least one short-range gun. A rifle, shotgun, and SMG combo usually do the trick.

5Understand The Map And Its Gimmicks

Utilize Everything To Its Utmost Potential

Getting outplayed in a gunfight is one thing. Being eliminated because you got stuck in a building or weren’t sure of a route to escape is a completely different frustrating ordeal. You should make it a point to study the map and all of its various gimmicks.

There are mobility tools like vehicles and rifts spread across it. You’ve got wind tunnels that can make for a quick getaway. Open valleys and sprawling hillsides make up a lot of the map. If you know how to navigate the OG Fortnite map, you’ll have no trouble making it to the end of a match.

4Close The Distance

Push Your Enemy With No Mercy

No matter if it is Battle Royale or Zero Build, getting up and close and personal is a good way to win fights. A lot of Fortnite players enjoy picking off opponents from a distance. Rush them with your close-range weaponry to catch them off guard.

If you’re inbuild mode, throw some explosives their way first to disrupt their build. Make sure you utilize the game’s movement mechanics. Sprint, slide, jump, and mantle so you don’t give them an easy target while pushing.

3Take The High Ground

The high ground is an important aspect of OG Fortnite. It gives you a huge advantage. Use your third-person perspective to look around the map and at the base of your location to see if anyone is approaching. It’s much easier to shoot down at them than it is for them to aim and shoot up.

There are plenty of mobility tools available to make this happen. You’ve got ziplines, vehicles, and Rift-to-Go. Whatever way you can do it, use what’s at your disposal to reach a high point. This is especially useful in the latter circles, as you’ll get a good view of the final playing area.

2Don’t Fight If You Don’t Have To

Run For The Hills

We all love to rack up eliminations in OG Fortnite. But what if we told you that you don’t have to take every fight or third-party every battle you hear in the distance? The more fights you take, the higher the chance that you’ll be eliminated and sent back to the lobby.

If your main goal is to get the Victory Royale, survival is your biggest objective. Spend the entirety of the match getting loot or hiding near where the next circle will close. You’ll have to take out at least one player at the end to get the win, though.

1Pick A Consistent Landing Spot

Where We Droppin'?

Pro BR players will tell you that havinga consistent landing spotis the key to their success. This goes for OG Fortnite as well. Even though the map changes, the larger points of interest aren’t going anywhere. Pick one to drop in and study it.

If you know where every chest spawns, how to rotate out, or even a sneaky spot to hide and surprise an opponent while they run by, you’ll be near-unstoppable. Land there every single game. You won’t win every game, but that consistency will eventually propel you to a first-place finish.
