The bogeyman has long been a stable of horror culture across the world. Primarily used by adults as a cautionary tale or to just plain terrorize children, the bogeyman has seen many incarnations in books, movies, and even video games.
As the title suggests, Escape The Boogeyman has a relatively straightforward premise. You wake up in a dark house where you must find the door to freedom. Meanwhile, the shadowy bloodthirsty boogeyman is not far behind your trail.

6The Grudge

2004’s The Grudge is often regarded as one ofthe decade’s scariest horror films. While the film’s immense box office success guaranteed that a sequel would soon follow, the studio decided to enter the realm of flash games to build more anticipation.
The Grudge flash game was released before 2006’s The Grudge 2. It’s debatable whether or not this promotional title had any impact on Grudge 2’s commercial success. However, ultimately, it still manages to stand on its own as a chillingly engrossing horror gem.

There’s no easy way to say it, but one of the creepiest flash games to ever grace the web was a product of the Doritos company. Hotel 626 and its sequel, Asylum 626, were designed as marketing stunts to highlight the return of “Black Pepper Jack” and “Jack and Smokin' Cheddar BBQ” chip flavors, which had been “dead” for years.
Not only is Hotel 626 a surprisingly frightening flash game but when it was released, it could only be played between 6 PM and 6 AM, forcing players to experience this unnerving experience past sunset in the blanket of darkness.

Depending on who you ask, jump scares are either a cheap trick or a clever scare tactic. In reality, a good jump scare is all about build-up and execution. Plenty of horror flash games utilize jump scares, but there’s one sovereign among them.
