This year’sJingle Jamaims to raise millions for charity, bringing total lifetime donations to £25,000,000. The charity drive, established by Lewis Brindley and Simon Lane of the Yogscast, is live now, wrapping up on December 14.
Over 70 games are available as part of the Jingle Jam Bundle, where 100% of proceeds go towards charity. Games like the lovely adventureA Short Hike,Pokemon Snap-inspired Alekon, and the chaotic Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, as well as many others, make up the list. The bundle is a collaborative effort - as much a place for classic titles as it is a space for smaller, indie developers to get their game out there.
There have been over 51,000 individual donations so far. These will go to 37 different charities including Austicia, a mental health charity to help empower young autistic people; the Wallace And Gromit Grand Appeal, which is a project to build the ‘Jingle Jam Building’ at Bristol Children’s Hospital, and the WDC, the Whale And Dolphin Conservation charity, which work towards ending whale hunting worldwide. Whale And Dolphin Conservation and Campaign Against Living Miserably have both received over £220,000 from the event.
What began as a stream for a single charity, Oxfam, has grown into something much larger. In the past 12 years, the Jingle Jam has transformed from a get-together of content creators in a small Bristol office to an industry-wide event, cementing itself as the largest gaming charity event of the year.
Dozens of streamers from across the UK - and further afield - run separate charity fundraising events during the end of the year. This year, its twelfth iteration, the charity event is making a final push to hit £25 million in total lifetime donations by the end of the 2023 stream on December 14.
The Jingle Jam ends on December 14. You can check out theofficial bundle here.
