In theOne Piece Card Game’sOP-05 Awakening Of The New Era, yellow decks received new support based on the Skypeia arc of the series. With Enel as its leader, yellow’s constant cycle of their life cards for the chance at a trigger is now better than ever. All the cards in OP-05 are direct support for Skypeia, so if you’re planning to put away your Big Mom decks, this is the set for you.
Enel’s ability is another version of Katakuri’s. When Enel goes down to zero life, you can discard a card to heal a life. This makes Enel a sustainable powerhouse.
10Upper Yard
Sky Island’s First Stage Card
There are only a handful of useful Stage cards in theOne Piece Card Game. Although there aren’t many cards that can remove stages, besides the banned Moby Dick, stages haven’t made a huge splash in the game.
Upper Yard doesn’t change the formula of stage cards by much. This card lets you search the top cards of your deck for a Sky Island card, but it is only an On Play effect. It may seem counterintuitive, but some of the Sky Island cards can interact with your Stage cards, adding another layer of play.
9Conis
Free Cycle for Your Deck
Conis is one of the few cards that can interact with your already-played Stage cards. When played, Conis can send one of your Stage cards to the bottom of the deck to draw one and trash one from your hand, giving you extra cycle of your deck.
The more you cycle through your deck, the more you can filter out the good cards to add to your life as part of Enel’s effect. Conis is also a 2,000 counter that can be searched by Shura and can save you in a pinch.
8El Thor
Amazing Counter Card
There is a reason why Radical Beam was limited to one for the longest time in the One Piece Card Game. Most decks that played it would easily drop down to two or less life and activateRadical Beam’s 4,000 counter for only one DON!!. Now that more colors have similar cards, Radical Beam is not so much of a problem.
El Thor is the yellow version of Radical Beam. This card can give you an extra 2,000 counter on top of the one you already get, but only if your opponent is at two or less life. While this card is a great counter card, yellow doesn’t pressure their opponents as much as other colors, so meeting the threshold can be a little awkward at times.
7Shura
One Of The Four Priests Of The Upper Yard
Shura is the searcher for the Sky Island archetype so this card will be your go-to play in the early turns of the game. Like most searchers, Shura can look at the top five cards of the deck and grab any Sky Island characters, but what sets him apart from the rest of the searchers in the game, is that Shura has a trigger.
When triggered out of life, you can play Shura without pitching a card from your hand, as most playable yellow cards require. It’s not optimal, but if need be, Shura can also become an attacker with a quick Two Hundred Million Volts Amaru event card.
6Satori
Suffer The Ordeal Of Balls!
Satori is an underwhelming card at first glance. Why would you use five DON!! for a 5,000 vanilla when it’s better in hand as a 2,000 counter? But finding Satori out of life feels great. You only have to discard one card to play this round vassal, but that gives a threat that can attack next turn.
Not only is Satori excellent in any Sky Island deck, but its versatility makes it a staple, along withCapone"Gang" Bege, for any yellow deck that benefits from Trigger cards.
5Gedatsu
Move Aside, Thunder Bolt
While Thunder Bolt is a great card to remove threats on the board, it comes at a heavy cost. Thunder Bolt requires you to trash one of your life cards for the effect to activate. It may be worth it at times, but it never feels good.
Up until OP-05, yellow did not have any removal without a huge condition barring its entry, until Gedatsu. Sure, this card still has a condition, but it is not as detrimental to your game plan as Thunder Bolt.
4Enel
The Thunder God Of Skypiea
Yellow is not known to be an aggressive color, but with the amount of characters that you can spam the board with, it can be. Enel helps you achieve this with an excellent Rush effect and an even better protection effect.
If Enel is to be removed from play, you can trash a life card to prevent his deletion, but if you have watched or read the series, you know that Enel has a very obvious counter. As long as Monkey D. Luffy is on the field, he cannot activate his effect.
3Two-Hundred Million Volts Amaru
Enel’s Thunderous Transformation
Enel, as a toolbox deck, functions really well. It can stall out your opponent by healing constantly, it has great counter cards, but can also be uber-aggressive if it needs to be. With Two-Hundred Million Volts Amaru, Enel can make any of his Sky Island Vassals an unstoppable force.
This card gives one of your characters or leader a 3,000 power boost and if you have one or fewer life cards, it will let you rest a four-cost character that might be in the way of your attack
2Holly
The Best Vanilla in The Game
Holly is not that great of a card on its own, but you’re not supposed to play Holly by themselves. This giant dog is supposed to be coupled with Ohm. Even though Holly is not a bad play for turn two, playing it for free with Ohm’s effect feels so much more satisfying.
Without Ohm, Holly is just another vanilla yellow card that can be easily removed by any Gum Gum Jet Pistol, but the sheer board presence that this card can give you makes Holly one of the best in the set.
1Ohm
Flood the Board with High Power
Characters that can play out other bodies on your board are always strong. In purple, Ulti and Page One make for a deadly combo that is difficult to stop. To mitigate the strength of that combo, you have to return one DON!! to the deck, but it seems like Bandai forgot to adjust Ohm.
This card can not only play Holly for free, but you may also search for a Holly card from the top cards of your deck. That means if you already have a Holly in your hand, Ohm can at least find you another one that can become a 1,000-power counter later on in the game.
