Summary
Palworldblends survival craft mechanics with capturing, breeding, and even putting your pals to work to create a complex ecosystem mixed with intricate base building. With enemy NPCs and wild pals attacking in raids or just in the wild, combat is a significant part of the gameplay and can set you back if you’re not careful.
Leveling up and choosing which blueprints to put tech points into can seem daunting, especially with the dozens of weapon options that range from useless to incredibly powerful. Luckily, some weapons are arguably the best to choose from in Palworld for both capturing pals and defending your base.

The musket is probablythe first gunyou will craft or learn in Palworld, and yet does the third-highest single-shot damage in the game. The only drawback is that it has a very long reloading animation that could leave you open to attacks.

Luckily, it only takes course ammo which is very easy to make, allowing you to pretty much never run out of ammo. You will want to use this weapon when fighting alongside a Pal so that your target will focus their attacks on something other than you.

Although it does less damage than the other ranged weapons, the Poison Arrow Crossbow is the best weapon that uses arrows as ammunition. Not only does the poison effect deal damage over time, but it also makes Pals easier to catch.

The only downside is that poison arrows are harder to craft than normal ones, but with the additional damage, you won’t have to craft as many. It also has a faster reloading animation than the musket and is a solid backup option for when you are low on ingots or bullets.

The second gun you’ll likely craft, and the only other firearm that uses course ammo, the Makeshift Handgun is only a slight downgrade when compared to the regular handgun. This is because it deals only 80 less damage after firing a full magazine.
However, because course ammo is much easier to craft than handgun ammo, there is no reason to craft the regular handgun unless you plan on using it to fight high-tier bosses. Even then, the musket uses much less ammo and deals much more damage.

The sword is the strongest melee weapon and the best option for when you don’t want to waste durability or ammo on a firearm. If you’re fighting an enemy with an easy-to-dodge attack or no AOE attacks, the sword is the best weapon to fight single targets on the ground.
The only problem with the sword is that it has less reach than other melee weapons, like spears, but it likely won’t matter, as the distance doesn’t separate you enough for most attacks anyway. As soon as you get refined ingots, the sword should be your first creation.

One of only two shotguns, other than the ones used by pals, the Pump-Action Shotgun fires up to nine times, compared to the double-barrel which only fires twice before having to reload. It also deals significantly more damage but at the cost of 50 less durability.
Alpha Suzaku has a one percent chance of dropping the legendary Pump-Action Shotgun Schematic.
Despite its bullet spread, it still has significant damage at range, even if only some bullets hit the target. However, if you’re only trying to weaken a pal with this weapon, you might end up accidentally knocking it out in one shot.

An upgraded version of the musket that takes higher quality ammo, the Single-Shot Rifle deals slightly more damage but reloads much quicker. Because of its range, it pairs especially well with thePal Sphere Launcher, as it can allow you to capture pals from far away.
Since it has the second-highest durability of all weapons, it also means it will save you from having to constantly use refined ingots and polymer to repair it. However, you will have to be careful using it on lower-level pals, or you will end up one-shotting them.

Despite having less damage than a sword per bullet, the Assault Rifle is easily the best overall weapon in the game due to its high magazine capacity and quick firing. With 20 rounds per magazine and high damage output, you can easily down multiple enemies without reloading.
Alpha Blazamut has a one percent chance of dropping the legendary Assault Rifle Schematic.
Although it has three times the durability of the Single-Shot Rifle, it takes three times as many shots to match the same amount of damage, so technically they will drain at the same rate. Also, because you can control how much damage you hit a pal with, it makes capturing high-level pals much easier.

The highest damage weapon in Palworld, and also the hardest to craft, the Rocket Launcher can easily down large groups of enemies with a single rocket over large distances. If you want to win against any gym battle or alpha pal, the rocket launcher is the best tool for the job.
Alpha Jetragon has a one percent chance of dropping the legendary Rocket Launcher Schematic.
The only problem with it is it’s incredibly inefficient, as both the rocket and its ammo are very expensive to make, and will require hundreds ofpal metal ingots, polymer, and carbon fiber. It also has the same durability as a metal pickaxe, although you likely won’t have to fire it too many times.
