But the sprawling caverns and tunnels burrowing deep under the Misty Mountains aren’t empty, and you’ll need the best weapons to survive. This title combines a few popular game genres and molds them to fit within the lore of Middle Earth.
You’ll have to explore, mine, craft, and try your luck before making the Mines of Moria home again. With axes, spears, mauls, bolts, and more available, which weapons are the most effective at dealing with enemies? The weapons are all categorized into Tiers 1 – 6, with 6 being the most powerful and 1 being the weakest. There are also a number of useful tools, and you canobtain items like the Steel Pickaxefor enhanced digging.
8Durin’s Axe
Open Cursed Doors
One of the legendary weapons you’ll come across early on in the game is Durin’s Axe, but it isn’t just handed to you. It will require you to piece together weapon fragments scattered around the mines.
This axe offers you additional lore and a mystery adventure as you learn the story behind it and must navigate challenging passages to obtain all the components. But, this particular weapon can sever the magical seals of Cursed Doors, which hold a lot of riches.
7Eregion Spear
Repeated Attacks In Quick Succession
The Eregion Spear is a weapon you’ll receive the recipe to create following the events at the Great Forge of Narvi. Being a Tier 2 level weapon, it’s stronger and improves the speed of your attacks with its swift motion.
When you encounter multiple enemies, sometimes speed can be the difference between success and defeat, so the relatively fast attack of this spear helps you recover more quickly between strikes. This Elven-derived weapon is handy with effective piercing damage, especially when you inadvertently alert a horde.
6Steel Battle Axe
Deal Devastating Damage, Especially After Enchantments
The Steel Battle Axe is a Tier 2 weapon that packs powerful slashing damage that can easily bring down goblins and other enemies. But the trade-off is you can’t carry a torch or shield because this massive axe requires two hands.
You must also time your attacks to compensate for the slow swing speed, as your character won’t recover as quickly. It would be best to consider enchanting the Steel Battle Axe with additional powers like Thunderstrike for extra damage and stagger effects.
5The Hunting Bow
Ranged Option For When You Need To Keep Your Distance
Once you reach the Elven Quarter and gather Elven Wood, you can use your new Workbench to craft a Hunting Bow and several arrows. Fire the arrows quickly, and they will travel across large spaces to attack foes without you having to come face-to-face with them.
The piercing damage of arrows is less devastating than many of the melee weapons, but you canstrike unaware enemiesand drain some of their health. Arrows are crafted in groups of 30 and only require minimal wood scraps and metal fragments.
4Belegost Halberd
Better Reach During Melee
Once you find and activate The Great Belegost Forge, you’ll find a recipe for the robust Tier 3 weapon, the Belegost Halberd. A Halberd is a unique combination of an axe and a spear that may be one of the Dwarves most potent creations.
The Belegost Halberd requires two hands, so its slashing attacks are brutal and helpful against more challenging enemies. But, as with other two-handed weapons, you’ll be vulnerable without a shield or torch, and your attacks are slower. Slashing damage is effective against Goblins, Cave Spiders, Snackrats, and Wolves.
3First Age Crossbow
More Significant Damage At A Greater Range
If you want to inflict more damage against the monsters beneath the Misty Mountains from a safe distance, look no further than the First Age Crossbow. Not only is this an accurate weapon, but you can equip various bolts that provide a range of piercing attacks.
To obtain the First Age Crossbow, you must complete a series of tasks surrounding the broken statues to unlock it. Then, you can select options like the First Age Bolts, which provide enough oomph to tackle more formidable creatures.
Clear Hordes Quickly
Bludgeoning is a type of damage inflicted by a hammer and is effective against several enemies, including Bolgakh and Cave Trolls. The Khazad War Mattock features a wedged-shaped implement on one side and a spike on the other with a charged attack causing staggering effects.
One of the prized choices of Dwarves heading into battle, this weapon’s overhead strike comes crashing down on foes with dominant force. For even more power, the Khazad War Mattock can be enchanted with a rune.
1Shaz’akhnaman
All-Out Powerhouse
The Shaz’akhnaman is one of the most powerful weapons in Tier 6 and becomes available following the discovery of the Great Mithril Forge. Being a one-handed weapon, the Shaz’akhnaman offers a faster attack rate and frees up your characters other hand.
This spear-like implement of battle delivers such immense piercing damage, it can puncture througha dragon’s hide. You’ll need ingredients such as Diamonds, Scales, Ironwood, and Mithril Ingot to craft it, but it’s well worth the effort.
