Risk of Rain 2has several item types that range from near useless to easily overpowered with variants that are almost impossible to obtain or not worth the negative effects. Void items are unique in that they transform their counterpart items and give them a much-needed upgrade.
Although most Void items are direct upgrades, some have drawbacks that will make you pause before picking them up and others are rarely worth having. The best Void items, however, will be crucial for your most dangerous builds and longest runs.
8Benthic Bloom
Benthic Bloom reinvents its corruptible counterpart 57 Leaf Clover by consistentlyupgrading stacks of itemsin your inventory after each stage. This is a direct improvement as you need only one Benthic Bloom to significantly increase your DPS but many more clovers to get equal effects.
The effects of Benthic Bloom scale exponentially when you start adding stacks, as your entire inventory of items will eventually jump to legendary tier. This is essential for longer runs, as red tier items won’t be as common as necessary to create especially broken combos.
7Lysate Cell
The Lysate Cell corrupts Fuel Cells, swapping additional equipment charges for additional special skill charges, which seems like trading one hat for another, but with specific survivors, you are giving yourself new ways to quickly eliminate the highest-tier enemies.
The best survivors to build Lysate Cell stacks on are Captain, Railgunner, and Huntress, as their special skills, deal high amounts of damage and benefit most from repeated uses. Just try to avoid using Lysate Cells when you have powerful equipment.
6Needletick
Needleticks corrupt Tri-Trip Daggers and swaps the Bleed debuff for the Collapse debuff, which detonates all stacks after three seconds. Even with just a single stack of each, the Needletick will do more damage than the Bleed effect.
Because Collapse triggers all current stacks when it detonates, it requires a fast attack rate to ensure you build up as many as possible, but with enough, they can instantly bring boss enemies to zero. Because of this, MUL-T and Commando make the most use of thisdangerous Void item.
5Plasma Shrimp
The Plasma Shrimp corrupts AtG Missile Mk 1s and allows you to continuously fire missiles rather than randomly hope for them, except requiring you to have active shields. This can be easily boosted with Personal Shield Generators and barrier-based items as they’ll allow you to take more damage.
This is easily one of the strongest Void items as it simply increases your damage by 40 percent per attack and can scale with Pocket I.C.B.M. to increase your attack damage by 180 percent per hit. There is no reason not to pick up this Void item each time it appears in your runs.
4Pluripotent Larva
Pluripotent Larva corrupts Dio’s Best Friend and is also a direct upgrade as, in addition to having the same effects, it transforms all items in your inventory into their Void variants if you haven’t picked up any yet. This can radically change your run and potentially save you from another death in the same stage.
This item is essential for Monsoon runs and fighting boss enemies as otherwise they are likely to just kill you twice over. If you pick up Pluripotent Larva, also ensure to collect stacks of corruptible items so that you don’t have to rely on Void Cradles to build your combos.
3Singularity Band
Singularity Band is unique in that it corrupts both Runald’s and Kjaro’s Bands, transforming the elemental tornado effect into a black hole, drawing enemies in, and dealing damage to all caught within. This is opposed to the other bands that only deal damage to single targets.
The only thing challenging about Singularity Band is that it has a higher damage minimum to trigger, meaning it can only be used by some survivors or with the right combination of items. But with those requirements, every stage will suddenly become a lot easier to clear.
2Voidsent Flame
Voidsent Flame corrupts Will-o'-the wisps and changes the explosion requirement from on-death to the first attack on full-health enemies. This gives you immediate access to the Will-o'-the-wisp trigger and allows you to drain an enemy’s health much quicker.
The challenge of this item, though, is when combined with drones and AOE effects like with Ukulele, as they will bring enemies below full without the Voidsent Flame Trigger. However, the initial explosion can create a chain effect and detonate groups of enemies easily.
1Newly Hatched Zoea
The Newly Hatched Zoea is also unique as, instead of a single item, it corrupts all yellow items and gives you a powerful void ally per stack. Even with just one Newly Hatched Zoea, the void ally it can summon is powerful enough to rely on to defeat even teleporter bosses solo.
With stacks of this item, you may create an army of void allies that will clear stages without you having to use a single ability. Just verify not to pick up the Zoea whileattempting the Bulwark’s Ambry, as it will corrupt Artifact Keys before you can use them.
