Like other gacha games,Honkai: Star Railallows you to pull for powerful characters in exchange for in-game currency. There are an increasing number of characters available but Dr. Ratio is likely to be one of the most popular, since anyone playing while his first banner is live can claim him for free.
Dr. Ratio is a five-star Imaginary Type character who follows the path of the Hunt. He’s a strong single-target DPS who can deal massive amounts of damage by overwhelming the enemies with his big brain and barrage of follow-up attacks, and pairing him with the right characters will be your best move.
Dr. Ratio’s kit focuses on taking advantage of debuffs applied to enemies to increase his DMG output.
His Skill applies a debuff that decreases a target enemies' Effect RES, and provides a 40-percent chance of launching a follow-up attack. Each debuff that the target has will increase this chance by 20 percent, for up to three stacks.
Additionally, each debuff on an enemy will also buff his DMG by up to five stacks, as well as his Crit Rate and Crit Dmg by up to six stacks.
8Tingyun
Tingyun is a staple in almost every team, and for good reason. She provides ATK and DMG buffs, doesn’t need that many Skill Points, and can refund a huge portion of Energy for Dr. Ratio, making her a valuable support character. What makes her rank low in this list isn’t due to any flaw in her kit whatsoever.
Since Dr. Ratio wants to have debuffs on his enemies to increase his damage and the chance to trigger his follow-up attack, pairing him with Nihility characters will be more optimal. This also means you canfree up Tingyun for your other DPS characters, as he doesn’t need her as much.
7Guinaifen
Speaking of debuffs,Guinaifen is able to apply threeof them in the form of Burn, Firekiss, which increases the damage inflicted by Burn, and Effect Res reduction with her first Eidolon. Additionally, she’s able to cover his multi-target weakness by dealing DoT damage to other enemies while he focuses on a main target.
Equipping her with the Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat light cone will also allow her to apply Ensnare on enemies, which is another debuff that reduces enemies’ defence. This allows Dr. Ratio to benefit from the multiple debuffs needed for both his follow-up attack chance and personal stat buffs.
Equip any Nihility character with the Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat light cone so that they can provide an additional debuff for Dr. Ratio.
6Bronya
Bronya is a classic when it comes to amplifying any character’s damage by providing Dmg Bonus with her Skill, as well as Atk and Crit Dmg with her Ultimate. One of her best features is the ability to instantly provide a second turn for a single ally.
Bronya’s turn manipulation mechanic is amazing for Hunt characters such as Dr. Ratio, as it lets him take action multiple times and solves his weakness in multi-target scenarios. More actions also mean more chances to perform his follow-up attack.
5Welt
Welt is the very first five-star character who follows the path of Nihility, and also the very first Imaginary type unit. His strength comes from being able to manipulate the enemies’ turn byapplying slows and Imprisonmenton them, which delays their action.
Both slow and Imprisonment are considered debuffs, which allow Welt to apply two of them at the same time. Additionally, giving him the Penacony: Land of Dreams planar ornament set allows him to buff Dr. Ratio’s Dmg by an additional ten percent, along with one of his traces that provides an extra 12 percent Dmg Bonus after using his Ultimate.
4Pela
With every patch, Pela continues to join the ranks of five-star characters asone of the best supportsin the game due to the immense value that she brings while being easy on Skill Points. Her Ultimate applies AoE Def reduction to enemies, which will make your attacks hit way harder.
With her fourth Eidolon, she’s also able to reduce the enemies’ Ice Res reduction, which Dr. Ratio doesn’t benefit from but will add to his debuff counter. Paired with the Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat light cone, Pela becomes a Defence-shredding machine.
3Ruan Mei
Ruan Mei opens up new team compositions with her ability to buff the entire team’s damage making way for double DPS teams to shine. Coincidentally, the bulk of Dr. Ratio’s damage comes from his follow-up attack, which can be buffed if you pair him with Topaz, another DPS character who deals follow-up attack damage.
Additionally, she can increase the whole team’s Break Efficiency, which allows you to break enemies’ Toughness bar much faster. Paired with her Speed buff, Dr. Ratio becomes a toughness-breaking monster with his continuous onslaught of follow-up attacks.
Enemies who have their Toughness broken are also considered to be under a debuff, adding to Dr. Ratio’s debuff counter.
2Topaz And Numby
Topaz and Numby’s release was heaven-sentfor characters who revolve around follow-up attack DMG, such as Clara, Jingyuan, Himeko, and now, Dr. Ratio. Her Skill applies the Proof of Debt status to a single enemy, which is a debuff that increases the DMG an enemy takes from follow-up attacks.
Their perfect synergy doesn’t end there. Topaz’ follow-up attack, Numby, will have its action Advanced Forward whenever Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack hits an enemy affected with Proof of Debt. This in turn can trigger his own additional follow-up attack for a follow-up attack chain reaction.
1Silver Wolf
Silver Wolf is known for being able to apply multiple debuffs to enemies, which makes it no surprise that she’s one of the best teammates for Dr. Ratio. Her Ultimate decreases the Def of a single enemy by 46 percent for three turns, which perfectly complements Dr. Ratio’s single-target nature.
Additionally, her Basic Attack can reduce the target enemy’s Atk, Def, or Speed, while her Skill implants an additional Weakness to an enemy, as well as Dmg Res reduction to that Weakness Type. With the Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat light cone, she’s the only character who’s capable of maximizing Dr. Ratio’s debuff count on her own.
