The Gunsmith has received a surge of new attachments with the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.Nearly every build you can think of is possible now, ranging from meta low recoil setups to more experimental builds that center around hipfire or tac stance.
The SVA 545 is a weapon that is a jack of all trades, featuring a suite of attachment options that can morph this gun into a more specialized role. It won’t outduel a BAS-B or a MCW, but this weapon can hold its own if you’re able to land the incredibly fast two-round burst that occurs with every trigger pull. These two builds will certainly help.
Pros And Cons
FSS Sharkfin 90 (Underbarrel)
This build focuses on making the SVA 56 as accurate as possible without sacrificing any handling. While the burst fire has virtually no recoil, sustained fire suffers from a moderate degree of vertical recoil climb. To help fix this, we equip theSakin Tread-40muzzle to greatly reduce the gun’s overall recoil. This reduces it so much that we can safely equip theWarpig Short Barrelto improve our ADS and sprint-to-fire speeds without noticeably impacting our recoil.
Aim sway is quite noticeable on the SVA, so we will be fixing that with two attachments: theFSS Sharkfin 90underbarrel grip and theSZ 1mw PEQlaser. The laser isn’t visible, and neither attachment has any downsides. To round out the build, we equip theCitadel Gripto improve our ADS and recoil control at the cost of flinch resistance, a negative you can counter with perks.
This setup will allow you to reliably fire the SVA in full-auto for its effective range of 32m. While the ADS is marginally longer at 255ms compared to the gun’s base 250ms time, our sprint-to-fire is substantially lower at 192ms, comparable to most SMGs. Paired with the slightly faster sprint speed, this build makes the SVA 545 a solid mid-range AR for all Multiplayer modes.
Field Upgrade
Dead Silence
Since this weapon is a jack of all trades, the loadout you pair with it isn’t particularly important. We recommend a basic loadout that emphasizes speed with the ability to play stealthy when it’s needed. The Infantry Vestgives you a well-rounded loadout with a solid boost to tactical sprint uptime. The only mandatory perk we suggest isMarksman Glovesto reduce incoming flinch while ADS. This helps counteract the only major negative of the SVA build. Some other good perks includeLightweight Bootsto move faster andEOD Paddingto survive explosive attacks that would otherwise one-shot you.
Equipment for this build is also down to preference, although we highly recommendDead Silencesince it also grants Ghost while active in MW3. If you want to double-down on being stealthy, feel free to drop the Sakin muzzle for a suppressor, although this will come at the cost of recoil control. UseStimsto heal yourself and aThrowing Knifefor quick panic kills, and you have a loadout that can do a little bit of everything.
Aggressive playstyles have access to Tactical Stance in MW3, a middle ground between aiming and hip-firing that you may build around.Invest heavily in the right Gunsmith attachments, and you can have pinpoint accuracy with the movement speed of a hipfire build. That’s what this build aims to accomplish, stacking as many tac stance attachments as possible.
Most of the MW2 attachments that grant hipfire accuracy were updated to also grant tac stance accuracy, so we’ll be using a few of those in this SVA build. TheStovl DR Laser Boxis perfect for this, as is theSA Lightweight CQC Barrel. To ensure that our sprint-to-fire and aiming stats are fast enough, we alsouse theNought-Z3 Gripand theFSS Ravager-45 Stock. Both of these attachments will grant us an ADS speed of 219ms and a sprint-to-fire time of 168ms. Tac stance aims faster than the listed value, so your weapon more or less handles like an SMG. Throw on theShadowstrike Suppressorto hide your radar pings when firing, and you have a great assault rifle for mobile playstyles.Recoil is quite high on this build, so be sure to burst fire at long range.
Med Box
A stealthy playstyle is perfect with this sort of weapon. The CCT Comms Vestis perfect for doubling down on perks at the cost of lethal and tactical equipment. Losing Stims is quite punishing, but we can make up for this slightly by using theMed BoxField Upgrade to heal in a pinch.Covert Sneakerswill muffle your footsteps and make it quite easy to flank targets, especially when paired withGhost. As long as you stay on the move, you will never appear on the minimap. That’s perfect since you’ll create UAV pings when you kill targets and walk over their corpse, yet another reason why the CCT Comms Vest is a great choice.
Your choice of gloves and secondary gear will boil down to preference. We find theAssault Glovesto be great if you frequently shoot while jumping. As for the second gear slot,Mag Loaderis always a good option on any build. If you’re playing in harder lobbies, consider usingBone Conductorto hear enemy players using Dead Silence or Covert Sneakers.
