Purple is the clear winner in the first-anniversary booster set for theOne Piece Card Game, OP-05 Awakening Of The New Era. Following the release of the Three Captains Ultra Deck, the set included support for three of the most popular pirate crews in the One Piece universe: Straw Hat Pirates, Kid Pirates, and Heart Pirates.
With fast ramping options and cards that can blow up your opponents quickly, there are many ways for you to play purple in this set alone. Even if you’re not playing any of the three crews, these cards are generic enough to include in other decks like Magellan and even Kaido.

10Killer
The Kid Pirates Second In Command
Every archetype needs a searcher, and until OP-05, the Kid Pirates, led by Eustass Kid, did not have one. This changes with Killer. The second in command can find any Kid Pirates card other than himself, providing you with enough card draw for your Red Purple Kid do to some serious damage.
Kid Pirates don’t have a real cohesive strategy as of OP-05, but given the popularity of the crew, players are sure to find a use for them.

9Gamma Knife
Trafalgar Law’s Special Attack
The Red Purple Trafalgar Law leader found in theThree Captains Ultra Deckrevolves around sending characters to the bottom of your opponent’s deck based on their power level, so adding cards that can reduce power level is crucial for a cohesive deck.
Gamma Knife is an incredible card to add to your arsenal. It can reduce a character’s power by 5,000, letting you get rid of a 8,000 base power character with Law’s ability. Not to mention, it’s a Heart Pirates card that can be searched a couple of ways.

8When You’re At Sea You Fight Against Pirates!!
Type Coverage For Any Deck
Just like Killer, this event card is an excellent way to search your pieces, but mostly if you are playing multiple types of cards. This card can search for either Straw Hat Crew, Kid Pirates, or Heart Pirates, making it perfect for any strategy based on the Three Captains deck.
This card cannot search as deep as other character searchers like Killer orOP-01Nami, but the type coverage makes up for the low search. Mix and match engines and see what works!

7Trafalgar Law
The Captain Of The Heart Pirates
Before OP-05, Heart Pirates did not have a way to search them from the deck so you had to rely on drawing them for the turn or them being miraculously in your life. With this Trafalgar Law, Heart Pirates mega fans won’t have to worry ever again.
This card is very easy to remove with just about any effect, since its cost and power are right at that sweet spot and it being a searcher card, your opponent will want to get rid of it ASAP.

6San-Gorou
The Best Soba In The Land Of Wano
As long as Bandai continues to print leaders with a high base power, vanilla cards will stay relevant in the One Piece Card Game. San-Gorou is a six-cost 8,000 power card that will fit excellently in your Purple or Red-Purple Luffy decks.
It’s searchable by all of the Straw Hat searcher events and OP-01 Nami. This card is a great way to beat over big body cards like OP-01 Eustass Kid or even the powerful 6,000 power leaderEdward.Newgatefrom Paramount War.

5Miss Doublefinger(Zala)
The Baroque Works’ Poison Spider
Miss Doublefinger seems like a bad addition to Purple Luffy decks, but it’s one of the best tools to quickly up your DON!! and play high-cost cards earlier. Most purple Luffy decks don’t have any type of searching, but rather constantly draw cards out of their life or through effects like Queen from the Animal Kingdom Pirates Starter Deck.
Not only does she get you an extra DON!! when she enters play, her trigger requires you to return one DON!! To the deck to activate, making an excellent synergy with OP-05 Eustass Kid.

4Fra-Nosuke
The Cyborg Shipwright
Just like Doublefinger, Fra-Nosuke is another great card for Purple Luffy. This card whenever it has a DON!! attached to it and you have eight or more DON!! on your field, Fra-Nosuke gets Rush, meaning he will be able to attack the same turn he is played.
Similar to cards like OP-02 Jozu, Fra-Nosuke can help you finish a game by providing you with an extra attack, but if he’s glued to your hand, you’re able to easily discard it as a huge counter against an attack.

3Monkey.D.Luffy
The Peak Of Luffy’s Power!
Although a 10-cost DON!! reduction is quite expensive, this new card’s ability gives you an entire extra turn. That means another card draw and another chance for you to attack. If done correctly, your opponent will have to evade three different attacks, as soon as this card hits the board.
Combined with Red Purple Luffy’s leader ability, you can ramp back up to four DON!! in your extra turn with this powerful Secret Rare card, making this a great boss card and a fun mechanic to the already fun purple deck.

2Zoro-Juurou
The Rogue Swordsman Hiding In Wano
This Zoro card can be included in almost every Purple deck. It works even better in four life leaders, though. Once you are at three life or less, Zoro’s When Attacking effect lets you add a card from the DON!! deck. The only negative is that Zoro-Juurou’s base power is 4,000, meaning you’ll have to commit at least one DON!! for your attack to go through, but it will be quickly refunded to you since the DON!! comes active.
This card is one of the most essential pieces that ST-10 Trafalgar Law got in OP-05. Without this card, that deck will never see more than five DON!! at a time.

1Eustass”Captain”Kid
The best purple card in the set
Purple’s main gimmick is constantly returning your DON!! back to the deck as a cost to trigger different effects. While the more DON!! you pay, the better the effects will be, returning DON!! to your deck can slow you down a couple of turns and you’re able to also miss that much needed power boost.
This Eustass Kid card, who is also a blocker, can soften the blow of the DON!! reduction, by refunding you one DON!! Whenever you use any type of reduction effects.
