Updated July 30, 2025, by Andrew Scariati:The Spring Update brought several changes to PlayStyles, with slight nerfs to Dead Ball, Long Ball Pass, and Power Shots. We’ve adjusted the best PlayStyles EA FC 24 has to offer, with new inclusions and a new order to reflect the current best PlayStyles in EA FC 24.
Dead Ball is an exceptional tool forscoring perfect free kicks in EA FC 24, and it can even improve the quality of your corner kicks as well.
The extended guidance line that helps to pinpoint exactly where and how your kick will travel was reduced in length via the Spring Update that nerfed this PlayStyle.
Performance-wise,the added curve, accuracy, and speed added to your free kickswill enhance your chances of getting the ball to the intended player or curling it away from the keeper. While the PlayStyle itself is wonderful, be sure to check the player’s Free Kick Accuracy to ensure they can put Dead Ball to good use.
12Relentless
Unfortunately,Relentless also saw a nerf in the Spring Update, as the amount of stamina you restored at half-time and the start of extra time were reduced.
Previously, you would maintain about 99 percent stamina if you had the Relentless PlayStyle Plus, so now it is less of a guarantee that your player will stay so fresh, especially in extra time.
However, considering that Relentless is still the only way to ensure your team doesn’t become exhausted after heavy pressing, the nerfs won’t ruin this PlayStyle. You won’t have full stamina for 120 minutes anymore, but you will notice that the players who have this rarely need to be substituted.
11Intercept
The Intercept PlayStyle flies a bit under the radar, especially considering there’s currently another defensive option that outshines the competition (more on that to come). Intercept’sincreased reach and improved chance to maintain possessionare quite useful, as the ball tends to bounce back to the attacker without it.
Intercept is particularly useful on fullbacks – like Philipp Lahm and Joao Cancelo – as you can afford to take a risk on the wing with them to shut down a cross or attempt to cut inside. Moving players with this PlayStyle into a Central Defensive Midfielder role is also particularly effective.
10Rapid
Rapid edges out its cousin, Quick Step, as the current superior speed-based PlayStyle due to Rapid’s two-pronged effect. Rapidincreases a player’s dribbling speed while also reducing the chance of error during knock-on, giving it more influence over situations where you are likely to be caught by a defender.
In contrast,Quick Step only increases your acceleration during explosive sprints, thus leaving you prone to a poor touch when your player attempts to break away with their dribble.
Kylian Mbappe’s 93-rated Player of the Month card benefits mightily from Rapid Plus, especially because his acceleration is already quite high, so the precision is greatly appreciated. In addition to Mbappe, other top-tier Ultimate Team forwards, like Eusebio, also boast this PlayStyle.
9Finesse Shot
Finesse Shot was once consideredthebest PlayStyle in EA Sports FC 24, butTitle Update Six reduced Finesse Shot’s accuracywhen performed by a player who has the PlayStyle or PlayStyle Plus. Several cards with Finesse Shot Plus were once expensive, but now options likeHeung-Min Son and Alex Morgan can be had at bargain prices.
It’s not useless after the nerf, but you won’t be lofting in shots with pinpoint accuracy from 30 or more yards anymore. Despite the fall from grace, you’ll still noticesignificantly quicker and more accurate Finesse Shots from players with this PlayStyle, and it remains one of the most sought-after choices.
8Long Ball Pass
Long Ball Pass saw a nerf with the Spring update, as using it to break down the defense became almost required. The new update reduces the accuracy of crosses, but the PlayStyle should still help you ping balls to attackers from the midfield.
The PlayStyle Plus is fantastic, as itsends your lobbed through-balls at maximum speed and accuracy, making them difficult to intercept. Long Ball Pass currently remains one of the best PlayStyles to find on high-tier players.
7Power Shot
Power Shot has replaced Finesse Shot as the most versatile PlayStyle for scoring goals, as this option is deadly from both inside and outside the box. The biggest weakness of Power Shots is undoubtedly the long, telegraphed wind-up, but thePlayStyle Plus significantly decreases the animation time while increasing the shot speed.
Power Shot volleys from outside the box are one of the most dangerous weapons in your arsenal, as goalkeepers often struggle to read the dip and curve on these types of shots.
Though theball speed of Power Shots was decreasedin the Spring Update (thanks, 92 Timo Werner), this PlayStyle Plus is still an excellent choice for scoring from a distance.
6Whipped Pass
Whipped Pass is another fantastic option for fullbacks, with pro-level cards, like Selma Bacha’s, boasting this PlayStyle. Fizzing in a cross can be a delicate operation, as it’s extremely easy to send in a pass far too close to the keeper if you don’t get the angle exactly right.
However, Whipped Pass mitigates this large margin for error,increasing accuracy, curve, and travel distanceto ensure you avoid having the ball picked out by the keeper.
The PlayStyle Plus version is required if you want to improve your driven crosses by holding both LB and RB (L2 + R2).
5Trivela
Trivelas can take some time to master, but this PlayStyle makes it easier than ever to ensure you’re getting the correct curve on your passes and shots. The PlayStyle improves the contextual likelihood that a Trivela – or outside-the-boot – action is used, butthe PlayStyle plus is more important, as it reduces your chance of error.
Trivelas are now the highest-percentage method of scoring goals in online play, with goalkeepers frequently stuck in clunky animations as the AI attempts to react to the shot. If you fancy yourself a ‘meta’ option, then it may be time to swap out your Finesse Shot users for Trivela specialists, like Frenkie De Jong.
4First Touch
First Touch is an excellent PlayStyle that has seen its value increase as the year has progressed and is now one of EA FC 24’s best PlayStyles. With TOTS time, the power curve shifts, and defensive players become much more responsive and difficult to get past.
However, First Touch is an excellent PlayStyle Plus to keep your offensive maneuvers tight and quick, easily maintaining possession. Strikers and midfielders with this PlayStyle will be excellent on the ball and can move through the defense without losing possession.
