Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has dozens of new weapons for players to master, one of which is the MTZ-556. This weapon is a fast-firing assault rifle that shares some DNA with SMGs. It has quite a bit of recoil, but those who master this weapon can melt targets from quite a distance.
But to make the most of the MTZ’s fast fire rate, you’ll want a build that can handle its recoil. This guide will showcase two builds for the MTZ-556 that make it a solid assault rifle, ranging from a powerful mid-range accuracy build to a close-quarters tactical stance configuration.
Pros And Cons
The MTZ-556 is a solid AR/SMG hybrid if you can control the weapon’s moderate recoil. The easiest to do this is with theMTZ Marauder Stockwhich offers a massive reduction in gun kick. TheSL Skeletal Vertical Gripthen reduces the weapon’s vertical recoil. Use a50 Round Drumto make multikills easier to perform, then throw on your favorite optic. TheMTZ VLDL-3568 Barrelis also great for removing the speed penalties imposed by the drum magazine.
Stealth Variant
If you want to use the MTZ-556 in a stealth build, simply replace the optic with a suppressor of your choice. The Shadowstrike Suppressor is ideal since it has no drawbacks.
This attachment configuration will greatly reduce the MTZ-556’s recoil while increasing your magazine capacity. Asprint to fire delay of 175msis solid for an AR in mid-range duels, although you’ll want to be cautious about tactical sprinting into a close-range duel. Paired with the solid214ms ADS speed, this weapon should feel great in virtually any situation.
Field Upgrade
Dead Silence
As a mid-range dueling weapon, you’ll want to enhance your flinch resistance and strafe speed to gain an edge. The Infantry Vestis a great option for any build, doubling your tactical sprint duration while granting three perk slots. We useMarksman Glovesto reduce incoming flinch,Stalker Bootsto more easily strafe in and out of cover, andMag Holsterto speed up the weapon’s fairly long reload time.
Since you aren’t using Covert Sneakers or Ghost with this setup, avoid fighting in close quartersunless you swap toa secondary like the Renetti. If you need to get up close and personal, you can activateDead Silenceto temporarily gain the effects of Covert Sneakers and Dead Silence.Throwing Knivescan save your life in a pinch, andStimsare great for quickly recovering your HP after a tough gunfight.
If you want to use the MTZ-556 in close-range combat, a tactical stance build is ideal. You have plenty of attachment options for accomplishing this, notably theMTZ Natter Heavy Short Barrelwhich reduces your tac stance spread by a whopping 39 percent. TheSTOVL DR Laser BoxandBruen Tactical Vertical Gripwill reduce it even further, lowering it to 0.9 degrees.
Firing the weapon as-is will incur quite a bit of recoil, so we’ve opted to use theMTZ Marauder Stockto greatly reduce the weapon’s recoil. Throw onany type of suppressorto complete the build. The end result is a solid SMG/AR hybrid that can clear rooms and other enclosed spaces with ease, although it will struggle to duel at longer distances.
Preference
This loadout uses stealth perks to keep you off the radar as much as possible. The Engineer Vestoffers a second Tactical use and another gear perk. We runCovert SneakersandGhostto muffle our footsteps and hide from the minimap while moving, respectively.Assault Glovesallow you to jumpshot with this weapon with ease, andMag Hosltermakes reloading take far less time.
For your equipment, our only hard recommendation is to runStims. You get two per life, so healing after a gunfight shouldn’t be much of an issue. Your secondary and Field Upgrade are down to preference.
