Summary
There’s one thing that’s absolutely for certain if you’re going to pick up and playHarvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos: your stamina alone isn’t going to be enough to get far on the world map. So, what do you need to make some serious headway? Get yourself a trusty mount to help you, that’s what.
There’s a mount forevery kind of farmerin Harvest Moon. Whether you’re interested in that traditional horse setup, or looking for something that has more of a prehistoric aesthetic, you are guaranteed to find something for you to ride. Below is the best of the best, and may you find the best mount for you.

Some mounts come from the first DLC, Animal Avalanche, and cannot be found otherwise.
6White Horse
Of the horses that become available to you, after you finish your barn andstart welcoming new animal friends, the white horse is a cut above with superior speed when compared to the others. Sure, the horses are miles better than hoofing it on your own two feet in terms of both stamina and speed, but they arejust the tip of the iceberg when talking mounts.
Several varieties of horses are scattered in different areas of the world map, or right outside your backyard if you are careful enough to look. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Then you might find the steed you need at any of the animal shops. Other trusty steeds include:

There are other, more rare horses to find, and they are usually standing alone as opposed to the more common horses that stand with a friend. A little patience is required to walk up to them to earn their trust, but it’s worth it in the end.
5Zebra
As mentioned before, horses are great for when you first get them, but if you are really looking to maximize your stamina for how far you travel (at least until endgame and DLC), you would need a Zebra. They are fast and are pretty easy to find in the game outside of Lilikala Village. Meaning, you don’t have to spend a whole lot of G out of your pocket to go faster.
Truth be told, the speed of this could carry you through the game if you didn’t want to work at getting one with better speed. Still, other mounts come with decent passive abilities that you might want to take advantage of further down the list.

4Dromedary Camel
There are plenty of resources and seeds just waiting for you in the depths of the lands of Lilikala, but you won’t be able to pass the desert just on your feet and goodwill. You’re going to need a little help getting over the sands, and the Camel is just the one to do it. Bring some water; it’s going to be hot.
If you have the coin, you can easily just buy one at the animal shop in Lilikala, but your 15,000 can be better spent on other items. Instead, upgrading your tools and buying seeds to mutate seems the better investment.

3Unicorn
Coming fromthe first DLC pack, the unicorn comes looking fresh with a shiny white coat and gold horn accessory to save you. You can find them hidden at the Harvest Goddess Spring, using the night as the time to come out of hiding to graze the grass and enjoy the Sunlight. Both it and the Pink Unicorn are similar, only differing in color.
Once you obtain your mythical creature, you will be greeted with a mount that has twice the usual speed and can go over any terrain. You really can’t go wrong with taming this cute creature as soon as you are able to do it. Just be sure to gift them correctly to win their rare hearts.

2Sasquash
The Animal Avalanche DLC brought a lot more animals than you’d expect. While not all said animals are mounts, you can still get some nice buffs from having a few pets and livestock. Once you help Gunnar discover the new species, you find out there’s not one type, but four total creatures to find:
Each Sasquatch helps its respective seasonal crops grow a little quicker when you have them tamed, and they also move at twice the speed your other mounts do. Just be careful when traveling at those speeds — they tend to get caught on rocks and corners from time to time.

1Velociraptor
If this game wereFinal Fantasy 7, this mount would be considered the gold Chocobo when you consider all of its utility in getting across the world map. Not only does it have the fastest movement speed of all the mounts available, but you’re also able to traverse all the terrain that exists all over the land of Anthos.
The best part is that aBlue Raptor is waiting in the wingsof the base game, so if you’d rather wait to buy the DLC, you’re still in luck! The differences between both mounts are negligible, and come down to a 0.5 percent difference in a friendship bonus. Your gathering is bound to go much smoother with him in tow.
