Meowscarada debuted as an entirely free Pokemon inPokemon Unite, so long as you were able to complete its associated event before it expired. Much like Metagross – which was released around the same time – Meowscarada needed some emergency changes to help bring it in line with other Pokemon.
However, now that the fixes have been applied, Meowscarada is in a much better place, as it requires skill to use effectively, without being completely useless. As with fellow Speedsters, Meowscarada has a very small health pool, so quick, efficient decision-making is the name of the game, as you have plenty of tools in your kit to help you move fast.
When to Pick Meowscarada
Meowscarada is fairly flexible butbenefits heavily from Defenders with high HPand any other Pokemon that demand attention from your opponents.
Pokemon – likeBlastoise and Espeon– that can create space and move targets away are especially helpful in allowing Meowscarada to dive into the fray without worrying too much about being targeted and taken down.
A Supporter like Hoopais almost always a good pick for any team comp, but is particularly useful for Meowscarada, as it gives this Speedster a guaranteed escape on top of healing.
Meowscarada: Flower Trick Build
Flower Trick functions similarly toMewtwo Y’s Future Sight, in that it is a detonation-based attack that explodes either after five seconds or upon pressing the button again after applying it.
Weakening your targetbefore and during Flower Trick’s application is helpful, as the explosion does damage (15 percent)based on how much HP the target is missing.
Flower Trick edges Night Slash for general play,as its utility and ability to finish off KOs from range make it an extremely flexible option for a Pokemon that usually has to get in close for some fast basic attacks.
Both Trailblaze and Double Team are viable pairings with Flower Trick, depending on what you hope to accomplish.
Trailblaze is ideal for an aggressive stylefocused on attacking backline Pokemon – like mages and ranged attackers – but doesn’t sacrifice escapability.
Knocking out an opponent, or assisting a KO, will alsoresetTrailblaze’scooldown.
Double Team is better for elusive play, as it creates copies of Meowscarada that last for 3.3 seconds and allows you to switch places with that copy, deal damage at both locations and stun enemies. It’s a bit more difficult to use, but rewards tricky plays that confuse opponents in solo queue.
Meowscarada: Night Slash Build
Night Slash is a powerful movethat demands constant engagement and well-positioned playing.
Night Slash sends a wave of three slashes out at your targets, which will damage them and mark them for five seconds.
This helps torestore HP for Meowscaradawhen you hit marked targets with your basic attacks, so it pairs best with Trailblaze, which will enable constant pressure better than Double Team.
In addition to the recovery, Night Slash will increase your basic attacks' critical hit rate by 50 percent, allowing you to follow up with devastating effects.
While Night Slash may seem best to use against a group,aim to target one enemy in particular, or you will end up risking your life to inflict a bunch of damage, but leave without a KO.
Ideally, you’ll want to team up with a Supporter like Clefable to utilize its Gravity and pick apart enemies before they can escape.
Night Slash is immenselyhigh risk/high reward, but it can work like a charm if you pick your spots wisely.
Which Items Are Best For Meowscarada?
Held Items
Primarily useful as a solid laner, Meowscarada benefits fromAttackWeight, which allows it to stack damage up to six times with each score.
Charging Charmputs Meowscarada’s quick movement speed to good use, allowing it to increase its Attack by up to 70 percent (at item level 20) against a single opponent.
Lastly,RazorClawis ideal for Meowscarada’s assassin-like playstyle, enabling you to slow enemies by 30 percent anddeal extra basic attack damageif used directly after one of your other moves.
Not to mention, Razor Claw also gives a 2.1 percent boost to your critical hit rate.
Battle Items
Eject Buttonis the top choice for Meowscarada, with its two-pronged benefit of helping this squishy Speedster to escape from tight corners, while also enabling it toredirect its Unite Move.
FullHealis an excellent choice, butrequiresskilledplayto use effectively, as even a moment of delay will often be enough to KO Meowscarada. That said, it provides a way out of crowd control that is otherwise Meowscarada’s biggest weakness.
While beinggrabbed by Mewtwo Xis usually a nightmare for Meowscarada,Shedinja Dollis an interesting third alternative that willallow your teammates to dive inand draw the enemy Pokemon’s attention away, so you may use either Trailblaze or Double Team to escape.
