Disney Lorcana’s twin Limited formats, Draft and Sealed, offer players an entirely new experience with the same core set of cards. Unlikethe game’s Constructed format, where synergy and well-built decks are king, Limited is more about standalone value, and consistent results regardless of support cards.
Rise of the Floodborn’s Limited formats nestle neatly within this paradigm, rewarding shrewd choices in your Draft and Sealed pools with good results. If you’re unsure on which cards should make the team and which you should ship off to the bench, then let these ten optimal options light the way, acting as guideposts towards a better understanding of Limited play.

10Cheshire Cat, From The Shadows
Characters with beefy mana costs tend to be excluded from Constructed viability almost by default in Lorcana, with powerhouses like Maleficent, Monstrous Dragon being exceptions that prove the rule. In Limited, however, where games go long and value is everything, these lumbering legends get a chance to shine.
This Floodborn variant of the Cheshire Cat is a perfect example of this. It’s too slow for normal play, but a force to be reckoned with in Limited, where its hefty stats and evasive nature make it hard to deal with, and its removal ability lets you win wars of attrition on clogged-up boards.

9Minnie Mouse, Stylish Surfer
Wipe Out Your Opponent
With less consistent access to removal, cheap characters that can rack up lots of Lore early are legitimate threats in the Limited metagame. This beach-bound Minnie Mouse can do just that, bringing in two Lore a turn on an evasive three willpower body for just three ink.
There are options for dealing with Minnie, of course, but they’re much less readily available in Limited, meaning she’ll likely put you well ahead in the race before your opponent puts a stop to her rampage. Her design may be simple, but she’s the ideal centerpiece for an aggressive Ruby-based Limited deck.

8Kronk, Junior Chipmunk
The Easiest Two-For-One In Peru
A good way to evaluate cards for Limited is to consider them in terms of card economy: how many of my opponent’s cards will this one card allow me to deal with? In the case of this new Steel Kronk, the answer is almost certainly at least two, growing exponentially with each turn he remains alive.
Playing like a streamlined, lower-rarity version of The First Chapter’s Tinker Bell, Giant Fairy, Kronk can dish out an extra two damage to a character in play after he banishes a character in a challenge. This can result in easy two-for-one turns, likely more than once thanks to his built-in resist +1 ability.

7Heihei, Persistent Presence
One Pesky Piece Of Poultry
Not only is Heihei adeliciously flavorful home-runlore-wise, it’s also an extremely solid card for Limited play. Returning to your hand after being banished in a challenge essentially gives you repeatable two ink, two damage removal spell, with the downside that it requires setup time and input from your opponent to function.
Given the slower pace of Limited, the speed factor here shouldn’t be an issue. It’s also worth noting that Heihei doesn’t need to banish the other character to return, allowing you to slowly peck away at your opponent’s characters, and patience, with each passing turn.

6Nothing To Hide
Learn Your Opponent’s Deepest Secrets
Games of Lorcana can be won and lost on information, and Nothing to hide is one of the very best sources available. Thanks to their more relaxed deckbuilding rules, decks in Limited formats are more unpredictable than their Constructed counterparts, which makes the hand reveal effect here even more valuable than usual.
Of course, the ability to draw a card for just a single ink is the big headline here, but the information element elevates Nothing to Hide above the likes of Pawpsicle and Improvise, making it a rare example of a cheap action card worth playing in Limited.

5Merlin, Rabbit
Pull Two Cards Out Of A Hat
Games of Limitedtend to drag on longerthan those in Constructed, coming down to tightly-packed boards and desperate attempts to break parity. In such an environment, card advantage can make or break matchups, ensuring that cards which allow you to draw multiple additional cards are very sought-after indeed.
Merlin’s Rabbit form is the poster child for this archetype, letting you draw two cards on a solid 2/3 body for four ink. This card is already seeing Constructed play due to its power in bounce strategies, but in Limited it’s good enough alone to warrant a slot in your deck.

4Let The Storm Rage On
The Cards Never Bothered Me Anyway
The inkcosts of Lorcana’s songsmay not be as consistently cheatable in Limited as they are in Constructed, but many are still worth playing regardless, since much of Rise of the Floodborn’s removal is concentrated in the card type. Let the Storm Rage on is not just a solid removal piece, but an excellent tempo tool that can swing a game in your favor early on.
Two damage is enough to deal with many one and two-drops, and card draw is always welcome, making this an easy first pick in many Limited scenarios. You may get a frosty reception from your opponent for playing it, but your chances of winning will skyrocket in return.

3Goofy, Knight For A Day
A Huge Body With A Huge Heart
Big threats can be game-enders in Limited thanks to a lack of removal options, and Goofy, Knight For a Day is the biggest threat Rise of the Floodborn has to offer. A colossal 10/10, with four Lore, no less, Goofy is more than worth the hefty nine ink investment required to enlist him for battle.
Banish-based removal is rare enough that your opponent will likely need to wear Goofy down manually, resulting in huge card advantage for you as their characters are fed into this unsettlingly smiley meat grinder. And while they are, Goofy can generate enough Lore for you to push through for the win.

2The Sorcerer’s Spellbook
An Inky Engine Of Inevitability
Limited is a true haven for cards that are too slow for Constructed, and The Sorcerer’s Spellbook embodies this idea better than most. One Lore a turn for one ink isn’t a great deal on paper, but when you consider how long games of Limited last it becomes a legitimate win condition for any deck.
Items are fairly hard to interact with, especially in Limited, meaning that this card essentially puts your opponent on a clock from the moment it hits the table. If you’ve managed to pick up the tools necessary to drag a game out, then this Spellbook can do the rest of the work for you.

1Mufasa, Betrayed Leader
His Legacy Lives On
Even more so than in Constructed, Lorcana decks in Limited tend to be composed mainly of characters, since they act as both win conditions and a means of interacting with your opponent’s plans. Because of this, Rise of the Floodborn’snew Storyborn Mufasais a slam-dunk pick, with an ability that will almost always give you additional value upon his untimely death.
Cheating a character from your deck into play is powerful regardless of what you hit, but with the increased viability of big threats in Limited the ceiling on this card goes even higher. The base stats here aren’t amazing, but two Lore lets you play aggressively with Mufasa and not worry about challenges, since he does his best work from beyond the grave.
