The helmets ofBaldur’s Gate 3aren’t just for show; they give some pretty interesting boosts to your gameplay. Of course, they are quite stylish, so you can be dangerous in fights and look good while doing it.
There are lots of helmets to wear, no matter what class you’re playing. Whether you’re looking to boost some stats or give yourself an advantage during battle, there’s always something to choose from. Naturally, most of the best helmets are from Act Three, but there are a few you’re able to get early on as long as you know where to look.

There are some spoilers ahead for Act Two and Three quests and areas.
Location
Act One. The helmet can be found through the Underdark, inside the Grymforge, after defeating and looting Grym in the Adamantine Forge.
TheGrymskull Helmis a powerful Act One helmet that gives you a few buffs to boost your power early in the game. The helmet decreases the damage you take from all sources by preventing critical hits, so you’ll always be saved from hard hitters. Resistance to fire damage is a bonus to facing hot-headed enemies.
Getting this helmet during Act One makes it one of the best in the game. Its damage resistance and the extra help of the Hunter’s Mark spell make it a great help when you’re finally facing stronger enemies in more heated environments.
+2 to Charisma (up to 22)
Act Three. Sold by the trader at the front desk of Sorcerer’s Sundries (either Rolan or a projection of Lorroakan).
Birthrightis a hat that is good for both style and stats. As an item that adds two to your charisma, the hat is a nice choice for dialogue and spellcasting. It isn’t considered armour, so it can be used by any class without theneed for proficiency.
As a final act item, Birthright is nice for pushing your stats to the very top, preparing you for the game’s final fights. You can buy the hat from the trader in Act Three in Sorcerer’s Sundries, so you can get it immediately when entering the Lower City.
If you’ve defeated Lorroakan, Rolan will have the hat in his inventory upstairs. It won’t be sold by his projection.
Act Three. Found in Ansur’s room below Wyrm’s Rock Prison. The helmet is on a table behind Ansur.
TheHelm of Balduranis a legendary helmet you can find during Act Three. You get some good advantages from this helmet, making it a good choice for some additional protection during fights.
The prevention of being stunned is a huge advantage of this helmet. Towards the end of the game, you’ll be facing a lot of Mind Flayers who will stun you, which stops you taking actions for a turn. You’ll want to avoid that as much as possible during the final fights, making this helmet one to grab.
If you’re not ready to fight Ansur, you can use Misty Step to get past and grab the helmet from the table.
Act Three. In a large pile of treasure in the House of Hope. Behind a door that’s opened with an intelligence check.
The biggest advantage of theHelldusk Helmetis not being harmed by critical hits. Avoiding large amounts of damage means you can stand strong throughout the whole fight. Pairing this with the ability to not be blinded means you can run through combat with fewer problems than ever. As long as you don’t slip on some ice, of course.
A bonus to saving throws against spells is also useful when facing enemies utilising magic, especially if you’re a melee player spending a few turns dashing around.
4Hood Of The Weave
Effect
Arcane Enchantment:You gain a +2 bonus to Spell Save DC and spell Attack Rolls.
Act Three. Sold by Mystic Carrion inside Philgrave’s Mansion in the Lower City. Enter the building on the left side by lockpicking a hidden door.
If you enjoythrowing around cantripsand casting damaging spells, theHood of the Weaveis necessary. Gaining a bonus to spell saving means your spells are harder to avoid, so you fire freely at enemies without the fear of missing.
The bonus on attack rolls boosts that even more, so you don’t have to lose your mind when an enemy simply side-steps your most powerful spell. The hood can be obtained almost immediately when stepping into the lower city. Finding Mystic Carrion in his lair might take a moment, but the hood makes it well worth the trip.
Increases the wearer’s Intelligence to 17.
Act One. It can be found after killing the three ogres and looting Lump The Enlightened in the Blighted Village.
Intellect is an incredibly important stat if you’re playing a spellcaster class like Wizard. Intelligence will also give a bonus to checks that require investigation, arcana, religion, and a few other proficiencies.
TheWarped Headband Of Intellectsets your intelligence to 17 unless it’s higher. Getting this boost early game can be quite powerful as it allows you to gain high stats quickly, making you powerful both in and out of combat. If you normally use feats to increase stats, this headband could allow you to use others and broaden your gameplay.
Act Two. Inside theGauntlet of Shar. After completing all three trials, the helmet is in the final room, behind the Spear of Night, in a locked chest.
If you find yourself deep in the Gauntlet of Shar, you’ll also find quite a few pieces of equipment that can boost your gameplay. TheDark Justiciar Helmetis a helmet you can get early if you know what to skip and where to go. If not, following andcompleting the trials of Sharwill lead you there eventually.
The helmet reduces the number needed for critical hits by one when you’re obscured. This means you’re more likely to land critical hits, which can be great for classes like Ranger or Rogue, which specialise in stealthy attacks. The saving throw bonuses are nice additions to every fight, making it a nicely rounded helmet.
Act Three. Upstairs in the Devil’s Fee. The chest is on a side table in the bedroom.
The Mask of Soul Perception grants you a plus two bonus to attack rolls, initiative rolls, and perception checks. These bonuses mean you can attack earlier in the fight and be more confident that those attacks will land.
Perception checks are a nice, simple bonus to have on top of all that. Gaining the Detect Thoughts spell is also a huge help, as it’s a unique way to gather information during dialogue. The helmet is very easy to get, too, as long as you don’t have a habit of being caught sneaking and stealing.
