What better way to spend the holidays than inTerraria, one of the best 2D sandbox games of all time?Terraria’s many eventsare a fun way to farm unique items, giving you a reason to come back to an existing world or start a new playthrough. If you’ve ever played during October, you likely came across numerous Goodie Bags dropped by enemies, and if you were exceptionally lucky, got the Bloody Machete or Bladed Glove.

There are plenty of items dropped from Goodie Bags, each with varying drop rates and applications. Most drops let you decorate your walls to achieve a spooky esthetic or allow you to dress up your character to get into the Halloween spirit. Frankly, the only thing you wouldn’t want is the rotten eggs drop.

A grid of green Minecraft Creeper costumes in Terraria.

Drops were chosen based on their rarity, esthetics, and, if applicable, their level of practicality and functionality.

10Creeper Set

While both communities debate which game is better, it’s refreshing and endearing to see the team behindTerrariainclude this iconicMinecraftenemy in their set of wearable costumes.

If you’re wondering: no, you can’t self-detonate and damage the terrain.

A grid of orange and green pumpkin costumes from Terraria.

What you can do, though, is throw this costume on in multiplayer and scare your friends who are new to Terraria but familiar with Minecraft. It wouldn’t feel like Halloween, after all, if you didn’t attempt to give someone a harmless jump scare.

9Pumpkin Set

If there’s any fruit that first comes to mind during the Halloween season, it’s probably a pumpkin. This costume is cute, vibrant, and sure to enhance the atmosphere of any spooky in-game festivities you might be a part of.

Plus, since there are so many walls, pieces of furniture, and other themed decor you’re able to craft with the pumpkins that grow all over during this event, it’s only fitting that you fully embrace the sanctified orange glow of the gourd gods. However, you should probably keep a good set of armor under this costume, just in case.

A grid of black and white Reaper costumes from Terraria.

8Reaper Set

If you’re more of a fan of grim costumes, especially symbols of the macabre rather than cute or lighthearted esthetics, you’re able to’t go wrong dressing up as the Grim Reaper. Plus, since you’re just a skeleton under those dark robes, this is a great choice if you’re looking for something gender-neutral.

If you like taking themed screenshots, this costume set pairs nicely with various structures and builds, such as:

A grid of purplish-black Alien costumes in Terraria.

7Space Creature Set

The Space Creature Set is about as close as you can get to a living, breathing xenomorph from theAlien franchisein Terraria. Although you can only convey so much detail with pixel art, the proportions, and color palette were thoughtfully planned, all the way from the feet and tail to the elongated, oblong head.

Also, in true Alien fashion, the costume’s dark, cool colors let you blend into unlit areas. If you wanted to, you could turn on PvP and hunt your friends as a fun,Alien Isolationthemed minigame.

6Ghost Set

Sometimes, the best and most nostalgic costumes you might remember from Halloween as a child are the low-effort ones. Combined with Terraria’s movement, the funny albeit nonsensical idea of running around with a bedsheet draped over yourself feels fitting.

What’s really cool, though, is if you happen to die with this costume on, the pieces will float into the ground, your remains won’t appear like they normally do, and the set will become transparent. Presumably, this means you managed to become an actual ghost?

A grid of the mostly orange Bitter Harvest painting from Terraria.

5Bitter Harvest

The Bitter Harvest painting portrays a green slime wearing a black witch’s hat sitting near a rather large pumpkin in a field illuminated by the bright moonlight of an Autumn night. There’s something cozy and cute about this painting, and it is a safe choice for any room.

Given that the painting’s colors are predominantly black and orange, it’d pair well with Infested Spider walls, Treacherous Sandstone walls, Ebonstone brick walls, or any other wall with either cool, dark colors or lighter colors with an orange hue.

A grid of mostly yellow and black Jacking Skeletron paintings from Terraria.

4Jacking Skeletron

If you have a good eye, you likely noticed that the Jacking Skeletron painting is a direct reference to The Nightmare Before Christmas, as it portrays Spiral Hill, the pathway that Jack Skellington and other characters use to get into the Hinterlands.

The painting would pair well with a wide variety of builds, like a witch’s hut, abandoned museum, or a decrepit castle. In fact, a weathered, dark academia aesthetic would fit Jacking Skeletron perfectly; try playing around with cobwebs, candelabras, skull lanterns, and bookshelves.

A grid of mostly white and red Morbid Curiosity paintings from Terraria.

3Morbid Curiosity

The Morbid Curiosity painting depicts a skeleton with wings holding a flying eyeball. At first glance, this might seem markedly benign, but this is actually a direct reference to Act V of Hamlet, where the main protagonist discovers the skull of his former court jester, Yorick.

Even if you’re not a fan of Shakespeare, it’s nonetheless easy to appreciate the macabre nature of this painting. If you happen to be building a necromancer’s lair or an evil wizard’s tower, this would be a great choice to stick on one of the walls.

A grid of black cats wearing a witch hat and riding a flying broom.

2Unlucky Yarn

The Unlucky Yarn is the only possible drop from a Goodie Bag that will give you a pet. Once equipped in your pet slot, you’ll see a cute black cat wearing a witch’s hat that summons and adorably rides a magical broom if you start to get too far ahead of it.

Also, If the hat this cat is wearing looks oddly familiar, you have a sharp eye, as it is practically identical to the wizard hat dropped by Tim. Although the drop chance is pretty low, this is a pet definitely worth grinding for.

A grid of black Bat Hooks from Terraria.

1Bat Hook

Although the Bat Hook is the hardest and most unlikely drop to obtain from a Goodie Bag, it is well worth it, mainly for three reasons:

Functionality aside, if you like dark, bat-themed items, that’s a nice bonus too.
