Even though Geo had the second Archon in the main story ofGenshin Impact, it has been one of the most neglected elements throughout the game’s journey. Dendro, even though it was released years after the game’s launch, nearly has more characters than Geo, making it one of the least populated elements in the game.
Geo reactions in the game also aren’t out of the ordinary, but that doesn’t mean that every character from this element is completely useless. There are still a few characters that are worth spending your resources on, and this list will help you decide that.

Updated on July 17, 2025, by Sanyam Jain:Zhongli was first released during the Version 1.1 update, and there hasn’t been any better character from the Geo element up until the Version 5.1 update. Xilonen’s release in this update turned the tide in the game, making her one of the most sought-after characters.
12Gorou
Gorouhad the unfortunate fate of being released withArataki Ittoas aniche support characterthat only really buffs him. Both his Skill and Ultimate can provide a DEF, resistance, and Geo DMG Bonus, but you need to have one, two, or three Geo characters in the team for these buffs respectively.
With only eight Geo characters in the game, this is quite hard to achieve. Gorou can still be used if you have a couple of Geo DPS characters in the party, but he’s quite useless out of that.

11Geo Traveler
We’ve all switched to Geo Traveler during the early game and used their constructs to solve various puzzles in Liyue and get on top of the mountains, but this character doesn’t have much use out of it. They deal burst-type damage from their Elemental Burst and put up a field that can block enemies.
There’s also a handy Crit Rate boost given to your party through one of their free constellations. However, the lack of interactiveness in their kit and low multipliers bring them to the bottom of the ranking list, not just in this Geo-specific list but overall as well.

10Kachina
Kachinawas the first four-star to be released in Genshin Impact from Natlan, and while she can be quite good for climbing cliffs with her Nightsoul state, she’s largely weak outside of that. In her Nightsoul state, Kachina can summon Turbo Twirly on the field, which she can either ride to deal active damage or leave to deal off-field damage.
Either way, Turbo Twirly’s damage isn’t anywhere near the other choices in the game. The only way to make Kachina worth using during the endgame modes is when you get her fourth constellation as it can buff the DEF of your active character, which can be useful for Itto, Albedo, or Chiori.

9Noelle
Noellemight not have had much screen time during the main story of Mondstadt, but she’s definitely one of the better Geo characters in the game. Her Elemental Skill puts up a shield that also has a chance of healing up the active party member whenever an attack is taken by the barrier.
Her Burst infuses her Claymore with Geo and massively increases her AoE and DMG. Throughout the duration of this ability, you can deal quite a good amount of damage to the enemies while keeping your party safe and healing them back up.

8Yun Jin
Let’s get it right out of the way,Yun Jinis the most fun four-star Geo character you’ll ever use. While she still scales on DEF, she doesn’t have a lot of other elements in her kit that usually bring other Geo characters down. Moreover, her Skill can work as aparry mechanic that rewards youfor perfect activation.
Her Elemental Burst gives you 30 charges of increased Normal Attack DMG, and this counts differently for every party member. To use her properly, you’d want to have at least two Normal Attack DPS characters and as many elements as possible in the team.

7Ningguang
When Liyue’s story came to an end, Genshin players were wondering whyNingguangwasn’t a five-star after seeing her role in the story. She’s also one of the few characters to receive a skin during a Lantern Rite event, and it looks quite good. Ningguang is an on-field Geo DPS in the game, and the only four-star Geo character to have that role.
She can deal a good amount of damage from her Normal Attacks and Burst, while she also blocks enemy projectiles with her Skill. This is especially great for monolith challenges since you can just prevent the long-range enemies from attacking it.

6Albedo
Albedohas unfortunately been on the receiving end of sad treatment from HoYoverse. He was first released without a proper weapon, with the first synergistic weapon coming years later. Secondly, most of this character’s lore gets gated behind time-limited events that newer players can’t access anymore.
However, if you’ve acquired him as a playable character, you may use his abilities as some decent off-field turret-type damage. But the best part about his kit is the ability to use his Skill as an elevator and take both your party members and enemies into the sky.

5Chiori
Chioriis an Inazuman citizen who moved over to Fontaine to pursue her passion for fashion. She’s known for designing beautiful costumes like the one she has for herself andNavia. However, her kit might not be as enticing as her clothing. Her Elemental Skill essentially leaves behind a doll that deals regular off-field Geo DMG.
This is her main source of DMG, but you also get a choice of getting Geo Infusion or extra DMG from her doll every time you use the Skill. The main issue with her kit is the lackluster Geo reactions since one of the major reasons for using an off-field DMG dealer is to trigger reactions.

4Arataki Itto
The one and Oni Arataki Itto was also the one and only on-field Geo DPS character in the game on his initial release, which automatically reserved this high position on his list. Moreover, he has quite a personality in the game, which made him have a special place in the hearts of Genshin Impact players.
Itto has quite a generic play style where you use his Elemental Skill until you get the Burst and then use the buffs provided by the Burst to deal massive damage. However, if you want to make him viable, you’ll have to get characters like Gorou and Albedo in his party.

3Navia
Geo might’ve been on a decline ever since Dendro’s release, butNaviabrought it right back up with her beautiful design and surprisingly fun kit. While players already didn’t have a lot of expectations from her since she’s Geo, she would’ve shot right past them even if they did because of how she works.
Navia gains the Crystal Sharpnel stacks whenever your party members take a Crystallized Shard, which increases the DMG dealt by her Skill. If you use her correctly, you can see Navia dealing over 100,000 DMG on every Skill even with just a level one Talent.
