Summary

Since its launch in 2020, thePlayStation 5has cultivated a large catalog of games from every genre. Therefore, there are plenty of first-person shooters on the system. Triple-A developers, in particular, seem fond of making FPS games for the system.

There are plenty of different types of them, though. You have single-player ones that focus heavily on providing a deep narrative and PvP multiplayer ones that are all about having fun with others. There are also a lot that fit somewhere in between those two ideas. Out of every FPS game on the PS5, the following ones are the greatest.

Far Cry 6 isn’t just a first-person shooter. It’s an open-world first-person shooter set in the fictional paradise known as Yara. Or, at least, it seems a paradise at first. However, it’s actually a dangerous place because it’s run by an evil dictator called Anton Castillo.

Your goal is to work with the resistance to bring him down. In the process, you complete all sorts of exciting missions, which heavily involve shooting a bunch of people. Therefore, it’s nice that the game includes many different weapons for you to find and use.

For You And Your Friends

Deep Rock Galactic isn’t a traditional first-person shooter game. This is because you aren’t playing as a warrior. You are a Dwarf miner who is sent on missions to gather resources. While doing so, though, you’re often ambushed by hordes of dangerous alien creatures.

This is where the shooting comes in, as you have to blast all the adversaries away. If you have a buddy who wants to play, this makes for agreat co-op shooter, particularly because it includes a class system that allows everyone to bring something unique to the team.

7Shadow Warrior 3

Lo Wang Is Still The Same As Ever!

Shadow Warrior 3 is an adrenaline-fueled FPS that puts shooting at the forefront, making it a thrilling experience for fans of the series. While the storyline takes a backseat, the game shines with its fast-paced action, fluid movement mechanics, and strategic combat elements.

As the iconic character Lo Wang, you engage in intense battles against tons of enemies, armed with a variety of weapons and skills. The game’s familiarity with previous titles from the series ensures that you know what to expect: non-stop shooting, constant movement, and the trademark humor and wit of the series. It’s a recipe for pure, unadulterated fun that keeps players hooked from start to finish.

Holding a massive gun in a snowy area from Metro Exodus

As with the other Metro games, Exodus is set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with all sorts of mutant creatures. While the other titles are primarily set underground, this game opens things quite a lot. The engaging story revolves around you hopping on a train to flee Moscow after discovering there are more survivors in the world.

Along the journey, you visit various open and highly detailed places. They look great, but they’re very dangerous due to the existence of the previously mentioned mutants and some not-so-friendly humans. Of course, this is an FPS, so you’re well within your rights to fight back. The guns feel satisfying to shoot, and the large amount of different enemies means the fights feel varied.

Those looking for awonderful looter shooter experiencemay want to check out Borderlands 3. It’s a light-hearted FPS game with plenty of humor and wackiness. The main story revolves around a group of Vault Hunters who are trying to stop some dastardly twins.

You play as one of those Vault Hunters, and you can have some buddies fill out the other spots if you desire. It’s not a requirement, though, as Borderlands 3 can be very fun in either single-player or co-op. Both experiences contain plenty of dangerous enemies to shoot and weapons to shoot with. Plus, each character has some cool abilities.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play online battle royale game all about outliving all the opposing players. It’s also a hero shooter, meaning before each game, you get to select between a roster of colorful individuals to play as. Each one has their own abilities. As for weapons and equipment, you need to scavage for them during games.

Because it’s a battle royale game, the amount of shooting you do per round is varied. It all depends on how many enemies you run into and how well you do in those battles. When you do get into fights, though, you’ll be able to appreciate the smoothness of the game’s shooting mechanics.

Modern Warfare 3 Warzone Key Art Players Fighting Atop Burning Building

If you’re craving a more realistic and free-to-play FPS battle royale, you may’t go wrong with Warzone. This game comes from Activision, the creators of the Call of Duty series. Unlike Apex Legends, you don’t choose a hero; instead, your advantage comes from the loadout you create, which you’ll need money to buy.

Thankfully, both the Battle Royale and Resurgence modes, which is a more forgiving experience than the BR, are fun and offer multiple maps to play on and enjoy. The goal is simple: be the last one standing soldier.

deathloop havoc slab being used against eternalist

Deathloop is a unique game as it revolves around a time loop mechanic. At the end of every day or every time you die, you wake up on a beach to start the exact day over again. Your goal is to break the time loop, which you can only do by killing all eight of your targets in a single day.

You can’t do that by running in and going guns-blazing. You must plan and prepare. So, there is a bit of a puzzle element to this shooter. There are also some interesting stealth mechanics, too. But don’t worry, you have the freedom to gun people down, and like in any good shooter, it feels satisfying to do so.

The Doom Slayer fires upon a mass of Cacodemons in Doom Eternal.

Doom Eternal is all about action. The story is very much secondary. All you need to know about the narrative is that a bunch of demons are invading the Earth. As the famous DoomGuy, you must wipe them all out.

You do this with an array of different guns and a few melee weapons. All of them feel distinct from one another, which is nice to see. But it doesn’t matter what you’re holding if you’re just standing there shooting, as you can’t succeed that way. This is a game that encourages you to be in perpetual motion. You need to run around the battlefield, blasting monsters and collecting supplies. So, it’s one of the most fast-paced andfun movement shooters around.
