The DG-58 LSW is one of three LMGs that launched withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.It features low recoil, a reasonably fast fire rate for its class, and a plethora of attachment options. While not the most powerful weapon, the DG-58 can hold its own with the right build.
Thanks to aftermarket parts, you can turn the DG-58 into a fast-firing SMG or a highly accurate LMG. This guide will showcase how to create both variants that excel in core multiplayer ord large-scale modes like Ground War. We’ll also give loadout and perk recommendations for each weapon build.
Accuracy DG-58 LSW Build
The DG-58 LSW’s lack of ADS-enhancing attachments limit our options for an aggressive build, at least when it’s configured as an LMG. The good news is that you may configure this LMG to becomepinpoint accurate with recoil control and aiming sway attachments. It won’t be good in close quarters, but this weapon will excel in long-range maps and the Ground War playlist.
TheWudi Long Barrelgives a sizable boost to the gun’s range and recoil control stats, making it better suited for long-range fights. Since the vertical recoil is quite noticeable for the first few shots, we use theELR Blackfire CompensatorandSL SKeletal Vertical Gripto fix this. Run theVaranus Steady Gripto buff the gun’s firing aim stability, and you have an LMG with virtually no recoil.
Loadout Recommendations
An LMG is a powerhouse at longer distances, but you’ll need to compensate for its poor CQC performance while creating your loadout. TheOverkill Vestis a great choice here, allowing you to runanyweapon in your secondary slot while granting Quick-Grip and Commando Gloves for free. This lets you instantly switch between weapons and reload while sprinting.
For perks, theScavenger Glovesare a solid option since this gun experiences minimal flinch and the Overkill Vest already provides two glove perks.Stalker Botsmake strafing during a gunfight easier, andEODmakes you highly resistant to enemy explosives.Pair the DG-58 with an SMGto make this build more competitive in close quarters. Some good options include the Rival-9, Striker, and WSP-9.
Nightshade Rifle DG-58 LSW Build
Installing the Jak Nightshade Rifle Kit on the DG-58 LSWconverts it into an SMG/AR hybrid, granting a massive 21% fire rate buff at the cost of your headshot multiplier and recoil. The added recoil is a serious penalty that makes this gun practically unsable out of the box. You can’t use underbarrel attachments with this aftermarket part, so reducing the DG-58’s recoilis going to be tricky.
Due to this weapon’s high recoil and lack of attachment options, we strongly discourage using a suppressor. All suppressors that reduce recoil have immense downsides and aren’t worth using.
We use theVaranus Steady Grip, L4R Flash Hider, and Recoil Reduction Buttplateto reduce the weapon’s recoil as much as possible without greatly harming the DG-58’s handling stats. Aiming stability becomes an issue with this configuration, however, so we use theFSS OLE-V Laserto fix that. The recoil on this build is still significant, so attempt to avoid fights past 30 meters.
Since this build doesn’t use a suppressor, speed and aggression are critical to finding success with the DG-58’s rifle conversion kit. We start with theInfantry Vest, granting the Running Sneakers perk for free. We then useLightweight Bootsto greatly improve our movement speed, allowing us to push angles far faster than anyone else. If you need to flank an enemy, useDead Silence.
Since this gun has a fairly slow reload time, we useMag Holsterto greatly speed it up. And since the DG-58 chews through ammo with this conversion kit, this loadout usesScavenger Glovesto restock ammo after every kill. Pair this build withStimsandThrowing Knivesto double-down on a fairly aggressive playstyle. Stick to short-range fights, and you should be able to compete with most SMGs and ARs.
