Following the release of theOne Piece Card Game’sOP-04 Kingdoms Of Intrigue, Black received even more support cards in OP-05, making the already established archetypes stronger than in their initial release. With new black leaders like Sabo and the ruthless Sakazuki, black cards have more applications than ever.

Black has taken a back seat in the meta for a while, but with Awakening Of The New Era’s release, some of the strongest Black cards are now prevalent in most of the top decks. With its main gameplay, Black’s cost-reducing cards will remove your board while outpacing your board.

dragon claw op-05 one piece card game

10Dragon Claw

Sabo’s Newest Attack!

Although the card does not include a trigger effect, Dragon Claw is a great card to include in your Dressrosa or Revolutionary Army decks. This card can give you a 4,000 power counter for any battle and if you’ve been using most of the Dressrosa cards, your trash will be pretty full, letting you K.O. a character that costs four or less.

There aren’t many Black Revolutionary Army so Dragon Claw is best used in a Sabo deck rather than a Belo Betty deck, but its effect is too good not to mention.

nefeltari vivi op-05 one piece card game

9Nefeltari Vivi

The Princess Of Alabasta

Small cost blockers are a great and cheap way to defend your life or your rested characters in a pinch. They can be removed easily with cards like OP-02 Vista, but it forces an answer out of your opponent. Cards like Tony.Tony.Chopper and Capone”Gang”Bege are some of the best ones around.

OP-05 introduces a new contender to the one-drop blocker gang, Nefeltari Vivi. These blockers usually carry no counter power, but this Vivi card does. The only problem is that, unless you have more than ten cards in the trash, this card is simply a counter in hand.

elizabello II op-05 one piece card game

8Elizabello II

The Fighting King

Dressrosa decks can be extremely aggressive if played correctly. They tend to lean onto the more control side of the One Piece Card Game, but with cards that are almost impossible to remove, like Kyros, you’re able to punch your opponent’s lights out with a swift one-two combo.

With Elizabello II, you’re able to set up a huge double attack that your opponent will more than likely not be able to stop. Although Elizabello can set up his huge attack quite early, you will need at least 20 cards in your trash to do so.

viola op-05 one piece card game

7Viola

The Beautiful Dressrosa Dancer

As of OP-05 the only decks that use their trash as a resource are OP-03 Rob Lucci, Rebecca, and Sakazuki. Viola can deny those decks their recursion targets by returning them to the bottom of their deck. These decks rely on placing specific pieces in their trash for them to later play them for free or return them to their hand.

Although Viola can deny the activation of these effects, you don’t get to choose what cards go back, but rather your opponent does.

hakuba op-05 one piece card game

6Hakuba

Cavendish’s Alter Ego

Since Dressrosa decks tend to use more control tools until they can attack with large numbers to finish the game, they don’t have many strong attackers. With Hakuba, you can add an excellent and strong attacker while keeping the playstyle that focuses on control by cost-reduction removal.

Hakuba can reduce one of your opponent’s character’s cost by five putting almost everything in range for Three-Thousand Worlds to work. To only requirement for Hakuba’s effect is that you need to K.O. one of your own characters. Combining this card with the nearly unkillable Kyros, can make for a great combo.

one-legged toy soldier op-05 one piece card game

5One-Legged Toy Soldier

The Toy that Defends Dressrosa

The One-Legged Toy Soldier is a basic card for a Dressrosa strategy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth adding to your deck. This card is a searchable 2,000 counter that can consistently be found with Rebecca’s leader effect.

Not only can the One-Legged Toy Soldier provide the defense you need for any aggressive matchups that Rebecca can struggle against, but he can also reduce the cost of opposing cards to make it easier for you to remove from the field for good.

shirahoshi op-05 one piece card game

4Shirahoshi

Crybaby Princess Of Fishman Island

With hand size being so important, it is crucial to keep those cards in your hand. Trashing cards from your opponent’s hand is one of the most powerful effects in the One Piece Card Game. Cards like Issho andST-10 Trafalgar Lawcan remove your opponent’s resources, but they require quite a bit of DON!! investment and even have conditions that need to be met beforehand.

Shirahoshi only needs your opponent to have six cards in their hand for her effect to work. That effect, paired with an amazing 2,000 counter, makes this great card even better.

mansherry

3Mansherry

One Of The Cutest Tontattas In All Of Dressrosa

With Black constantly trashing cards for cost, sometimes you will be forced to trash a card you might not be too keen on trashing. Mansherry can help you mitigate some of your losses. She can return two of your trashed cards to the bottom of your deck for you to find later with Sakazuki’s heavy draw power while returning one to your hand to be used immediately after.

This Mansherry card completely circumvents the trash as a pile of unreachable cards and turns it into another resource for you to use to cycle out cards you don’t need immediately that turn.

rob lucci op-05 one piece card game

2Rob Lucci

Remove Multiple Characters At Once

This card has almost everything. He can K.O. two separate bodies, whose costs can be easily reduced by other Navy or CP cards and his effect has no real cost since Black and Blue’s gameplan will have you constantly drawing and discarding cards.

This card alone is what keeps OP-01 Zoro and Trafalgar Law in check. Not to mention the fact that cards like Mansherry and Rebecca can easily add them back to your hand whenever you need them again.

rebecca op-05 one piece card game (1)

1Rebecca

Return Cards From The Trash While Keeping Board Presence

If Rob Lucci feels like an overtuned card, then Rebecca needs to be dealt with. This card can return a character with a cost from three to seven from the trash at no extra cost and then play a three or less character rested.

The amount of combos you can perform with this card alone is what makes the Sakazuki deck so consistent and powerful in OP-05. Luckily, Rebecca cannot be searched, or we would be having a different discussion about this card.
