There are many things humanity has come to understand: medicine, law, and physics, sort of. Humans are nothing if not problem solvers (and sometimes problem starters, let’s be honest), but the one thing that hasn’t quite been solved is how to control the ever-marching-forward stream of time. Maybe there might be some hope for this in the future.
Until then, you can waste some time by sitting back and enjoying thesecharacters inside their respective animewhile they show you the far-reaching possibilities of what can be accomplished by these characters who have mastered time itself. Don’t worry; there are plenty more out there waiting to be discovered in your new favorite shows; these are just to whet your appetite.

7Dio Brando
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
The man, the myth, the meme! This man-turned-vampire fromJojo’s Bizarre Adventuredecided that on his quest to be anything and everything powerful, that wasn’t enough. No, he and his stand, The World, needed to be able to control the concept of time itself. Even then, you get a feeling that it wasn’t going to be enough for him.
If only he wasn’t defeated, who knows how long he’d be able to freeze time.At the peak of his arc in the story, he was able to use The World’s ability to freeze time for a total of nine seconds. Long enough to do some damage at a close range but not long enough to affect things outside his radius in (ironically) a short amount of time.

6Eri
My Hero Academia
Eri fromMy Hero Academiahas the power to rewind time from a person’s body. She sadly rewinded her father into non-existence when she was a toddler, and it caused her mom to abandon her. That led Eri to be experimented on, and in turn, the anti-quirk drug was born. She was sadly a product of poor control.
Fortunately, she was saved by Deku and the crew, and she is now slowly learning how to control her powers. The best thing about her ability is that she can revert the body of who she’s in contact with to a state where there’s no damage from any attacks that occur, healing them, in other words. Once she gets control of this power, she will become a serious force to reckon with.

5Whis
Dragon Ball Super
It doesn’t come as a shock that an angel can do things outside the realm of normalcy, such as stopping all the time on earth for three minutes. He, being an angel of the universe, has a certain command of these types of things. However, his motives for doing such things are…less than ideal in the grand scheme of things.
Under normal circumstances, Whis wouldn’t use his powers to interfere with the lives of anyone on Earth, including Vegeta and Goku. It’s outside what he is allowed to do, not to mention he’s generally indifferent to whatever the earthlings are doing. However, in trueDragon Ballfashion, place him in front of something delicious that he hasn’t had before, and he’ll stop time in a heartbeat to get more time to experience it.

4Satoru Fujinuma
Erased
If you were given the opportunity to stop a tragic event from happening in your past, would you? Those events, however tragic they were, mold us into the people we are in the present, but that question always lingers in the back of our minds as we trudge forward into the future. Satoru is given that opportunity when his mother is murdered.
Given the ability to send his consciousness into the past (during a traumatic event, mind you), he has the chance to not only save his mother from her terrible fate but also save his group of friends from a serial killer terrorizing the neighborhood.

3Merlin
Seven Deadly Sins
Just like the namesake she inherited her name from, Merlin is a mage with nigh unlimited magical power to perform any number of spells — including indefinitely altering her physical appearance. So, it’s safe to say that she’s got a few time manipulation spells in her repertoire, right? As someone who’s been able to live and learn for over 3000 years, yes. Yes, she does.
Take her spell Infinity, for example. Once activated, she can allow other spells to last essentially forever. Meaning that if she encases you in ice, you’re stuck until she’s bored and releases you. Another notable spell is Chrono Coffin, in which anything, or anyone, encased inside will be in time stasis for as long as she deems. You don’t want to make her mad enough to use them, that’s for sure.

2Homura Akemi
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Love can make you do the impossible. It’s like it drives itself down into your baser instincts and turns your logical thoughts into less-than-logical actions. Homura witnesses the friend and person she loved most fall to a hideous fate and repeatedly attempts to change a timeline that will inevitably end up the same. Every time.
How is she able to pull this off the countless times she’s traveled back in time? Her shield doubles as her personal time travel device. Though handy in her quest to save the titular character Madoka, it isn’t strong enough to fight against the cosmic currents of time. At least for a while.

1Julius Novachrono
Black Clover
Here’s a man who seems to have time to bend to his will. King Julius Novachrono is a Time Mage, giving him near complete control of time and possibly making him the strongest character in the whole series. He can:
The man even came back from the (almost) dead by using the time he had stored away, though it came at a great cost to his Grimoire, as it lost all but one of its pages when the spell was complete. He’ll have to relearn all the spells he’s mastered over the years. He’s got all the time in the world to do so.
