Summary

2024 will mark ten years sinceNintendoreleased its firstamiibo. It might also be the year it releases its last.Sora’s Smash Bros. amiibo will be released in Februaryand with nothing announced after that - and a potential new console that might not support amiibo - the amiibo era may be coming to an end. Whether that’s the case or not and you’re wondering how to best display the figures you already have, some of the best dioramas released for Nintendo’s amiibo are back in stock onAmazon.

In case you’re not familiar with amiibo dioramas, they’re backdrops based on settings from iconic Nintendo games with slots in which your figures can be perfectly placed, greatly aiding your attempts to use your amiibo to recreate scenes from your favorite games. Two of the dioramas are back in stock on Amazon right now- one modeled after the Battlefield stage fromSuper Smash Bros, and aKirbydiorama that puts your amiibo on Planet Popstar.

Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Diorama

Each of the dioramas costs $14.99, and if you own aSwitch, don’t be put off by theWii U/3DSlabeling on the packaging. The dioramas were released so long ago that the Switch hadn’t launched yet, but the amiibo are the same size so will still fit in the slots provided. There’s also no need to panic about the rest of the writing on the packaging being in Japanese. The dioramas are very easy to assemble and you shouldn’t need the instructions.

Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Diorama

This amiibo diorama is based on the famous Battlefield stage from Super Smash Bros. The slots and platforms provided let you recreate scenes from the series using your figures.

I’m surprised dioramas didn’t become a bigger part of amiibo collecting. Sure, the figures look great gathered on a shelf, but there’s no doubt they look even better when placed in a diorama, whether that diorama is inspired by the series those amiibo are from or not. Yeah, putting Kirby and his accompanying cast of characters in the appropriate diorama is what’s expected, but switching them out for Samus, Link, and Diddy Kong is a lot more fun.

Kirby Amiibo Diorama

Kirby Amiibo Diorama

Amiibo dioramas were created so figures can be displayed with backdrops pulled from the games the characters star in. This one is based on Kirby’s Planet Popstar, complete with a Maxim Tomato.

Whether Nintendo plans on bringing the curtain down on its amiibo era or not, there has never been a better time to fill any gaps in your collection. Not only because the aforementioned Sora andsome new Xenoblade Chronicles amiiboare coming in the first two months of 2024, but also because a lot of hard-to-find figures are being reprinted and restocked, Shulk and Smash’s Terry among them.
