Street Fighter 6’s third outfits for each character are finally here and look amazing, but the high price tag attached to them has angered a lot of fans who had been patiently waiting for new costumes.
At launch,it seemed like Street Fighter 6 could do no wrongthanks to its wealth of content, welcoming online modes, stunning visuals and fantastic roster. The only part of the game that had a bit of a question mark around it was the pricing of some of the DLC and outfits, which was a little bit too high for most players' liking.
Well, if fans were a little bothered by the price of each character’s second outfit, which was 50 Fighter Coins, they’re going to be even more annoyed by Outfit 3. Street Fighter fans have been asking about the third outfit for each character for quite some time now, andCapcom recently showed them all off to thunderous applause and excitement from the community. Who could say no to Luke’s original look from Street Fighter 5, or Ken looking like Dante?
After so long waiting for the new skins and them getting such a great response from the community, you’d think that Outfit 3 would be a slam dunk for Capcom, even if they did charge 50 Fighter Coins for them. That’s not what’s happened, though,as the most recent update to Street Fighter 6 has revealed that Outfit 3 costs 300 Fighter Coinsper character.
This isn’t the first time that Street Fighter 6’s DLC has been considered overpriced, as the TMNT collaboration that happened a few months ago was met with similar criticism.
300 Fighter Coins technically works out at just over $4.99, but you can’tget the 300 needed for the third outfit without buying 610 Fighter Coins for $11.99, as the lowest amount you can buy is 250 at a time. That’s a bit slimy as it is but, as pointed out by Twitter user andihero, buying all of the new costumes will cost you 5400 Coins, which conveniently lines up with two lots of the 2750 Coin bundles for $49.99 each.
Altogether that means that if you want all of the new outfits in Street Fighter 6, you’re going to be spending just under $100 in the US and £80 in the UK, which is more than the cost of the premium edition of the game. Yes, these outfits are fire, but that is obscene and the comments underneath the post make it clear that fans aren’t happy, with several Twitter users even calling them “predatory”.
