Stellar Blade, the long-awaitedPlayStation 5exclusive, just got a new gameplay trailer at tonight’sState of Playshowcase. We also have a release date, with Stellar Blade now set to launch on June 13, 2025.
Check out the latest trailer for Stellar Blade below, giving us a better look at the gameplay ahead of its 2024 launch. This includes a look at some previously unseen companions, skills trees, and character customisation.
The trailer is a mix of gameplay and cinematics, and is definitely our best look at Stellar Blade so far. With the game launching much sooner than many of us may have expected, it makes sense that it was featured so prominently in the showcase. It’s been in the works for some time, after all.
Stellar Blade’s development has dragged on for so long that we haven’t always known it as Stellar Blade. Years ago, it was simply titled Project Eve. It was revealed under this Project Eve name all the way back in 2019, and was at one stage intended to be released on most major platforms:XboxandPCas well asPlayStation. However, as development dragged on, the game became both a next-gen and PlayStation exclusive, so you’ll need a PS5 if the latest trailer has caught your eye.
The new name, Stellar Blade, was unveiled in 2022, also announcing a release date sometime in 2023. Obviously, this never materialised, and Project Eve was pushed back into the following year. It looks like developer Shift Up intends to stick to this date though, as we now have this glossy new trailer and that much more specific date of July 24, 2025, rather than the vague promise of it being with us at some point later this year.
Speaking of the developer, this is Shift Up’s first triple-A game release. A South Korean studio, Shift Up was founded in 2013. Since then, it has shipped several mobile games, before eventually starting work on what would become Stellar Blade. It sold Stellar Blade’s marketing rights to PlayStation in 2021, bringing its project a lot more attention, and securing it a very prominent place at Sony’s State of Play broadcast. This is by far Shift Up’s most ambitious game yet though, so it remains to be seen if it can stick the landing.
Stellar Blade is launching on June 23, 2025. It will be available exclusively for PlayStation 5.
