For an entirely optional section ofBaldur’s Gate 3, the Sunlit Wetlands are full of locations to explore, side quests, strange animals, andone of Act 1’s toughest boss fights. One of the most interesting areas is Auntie Ethel’s Riverside Teahouse, which reveals endless passageways, enchanted loot, and evena secret entrance to the Underdarkupon exploration.

Mayrina is a unique character in this area, and the quest to save her will eventually leave you with a choice concerning the fate of her late husband, Connor. Since this choice can have consequences later down the line, it’s important to know your options.

Updated July 27, 2025 by Alexis Campbell:We’ve added additional tips to help distinguish the hag and Mayrina from one another. Additionally, we’ve added potential spoiler consequences for Act Three as well as uses of Mayrina’s husband in the long term.

Where To Find Mayrina

The first you’ll hear of Mayrina is likely when you stumble across her brothers arguing with Auntie Ethel in the Sunlit Wetlands, but you’ll have to go to Ethel’s house to meet the missing woman yourself.

Unfortunately,it’s impossible to rescue Mayrina in the tea house, no matter how much you pester Ethel about her. No matter how you interact with Ethel, she’ll wave a hand and send Mayrina deep into her lair, imprisoned in a cage.

This means you’ll have topass through all the obstacles and enemiesEthel has created for you in her overgrown tunnels before you can find Mayrina again, suspended over a chasm in a wooden cage.

How To Save Mayrina

Once you’ve made it to the heart of the hag’s lair, a fight with Ethel will begin. She will set Mayrina’s cage on fire at the very beginning of combat.

Your top priority (if you want Mayrina alive, anyway) should beextinguishing the fire or getting her out of it before it can burn up.You can do this by:

Shadowheart highlights Ethel disguised as Mayrina while in combat, revealed by Faerie Fire in Baldur’s Gate 3.

From there,be sure not to kill Mayrina during the fight, since Ethel will make an illusory copy of herself as Mayrina.

There area couple ways to distinguish which one is the real Mayrina:

Mayrina glares angrily at player and lashes out after being rescued from Auntie Ethel in Baldur’s Gate 3.

If you kill the real Mayrinaduring this encounter, your actions will be permanent, andthe ‘Save Mayrina’ quest will fail.

If you’re struggling against Auntie Ethel, we suggest referring toour official combat guide.

Mayrina looks toward Bitter Divorce with concern in Baldur’s Gate 3.

After the fight, whether you decide to kill Ethel or not, a conversation with Mayrina will trigger.

She will be angry with you for killing the hag (or letting her escape) because she can no longer resurrect her husband. She’ll leave after this conversation, but don’t worry, you can find her in a moment.

How To Resurrect Connor

Before leaving the hag’s lair, be sure to enter the room beyond chamber you fought her in. When you enter, you’ll find a room full of things to lootand a couple of things to read.

Be sure to loot this room, andmake sure you grab the wandBitter Divorcesitting on the table near the door. You’ll need this to resurrect Connor and continue Mayrina’s quest.

Holding the Bitter Divorce Wand, Mayrina swears to Zombie Connor they will find a cure in Baldur’s Gate in Baldur’s Gate 3.

If you do not grab the wand Bitter Divorce, the quest cannot progress any further.

Once you’ve grabbed the wand, you canexit Ethel’s lairby interacting with the mushroom circle. This will teleport you outside, and Mayrina will be just a few steps away at Connor’s coffin.

With Bitter Divorce in your inventory, you’ll have the option totell Mayrina you could resurrect her husband. You should select the dialogue option topoint the wand at the coffin. From here, you’ll need to decide what to do with Mayrina’s zombified husband.

Give The Wand To Mayrina

Giving the wand to Mayrina is the way to go if you want to keep everyone alive(well, sort of) and happy. If you give the wand to Mayrina, she will say something about a cure in Baldur’s Gate, and the couple will leave together.

If you choose this option, this isn’t the last you’ll see of either of them. Once you make it to Baldur’s Gate in Act 3,you’re able to encounter them in another questline.

Player chooses the Cleric option to kill Connor Vinderblad in front of Mayrina in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Keep The Wand For Yourself

If you choose this option, you will gain the itemSecond Marriage. This wand allows you tocast a spell tosummon Connor at the cost of an action. He will stay summoned for ten turns before dying again, but you can use the spell as many times as you wish.

From here on out,you can summon Connor whenever you wish for the rest of the game.

Connor is a hugely useful addition to your team - most especially in the early game. While his stats are mediocre, hisboons come in the shape of his many impressive features:

If you choose to keep this walking tank for yourself, Mayrina will be very distraught if you make this choice. You are still able to find her in Baldur’s Gate if you choose this option, but separating her from Connor doesn’t exactly inspire any warm, hopeful feelings.

*Connor’s Undead Fortitude does not trigger if he was killed by Radiant damage. As a result, we highly recommend keeping Connor away from enemies or traps that might deal Radiant damage.

Kill Connor

If you decide to kill Connor despite Mayrina’s resistance to this,be aware that you not only have to kill Connor but Mayrina too.

While you can use Bitter Divorce on Connor once you’ve killed him, you’ll discover there is some of his old self left, after all. Furious that you’ve killed Mayrina, you will enter combat with him again.

Killing Mayrina does not severely alter the Hag’s Survivor’s questline. You will still be able to progress normally, albeit through the whims of a different character and with minor dialogue changes.

Act Three Consequences

Spoilers Ahead!

Once in Act Three, this quest will extend into acompletely new questline. Your decisions from Act One will play out here:

Don’t Resurrect Connor

Mayrina will appear normally in Baldur’s Gate at Old Garlow’s. She’ll live happily in the end with her yet-born child and continue aiding Hag Survivors. She will forgive you for not resurrecting her husband.

Revive Connor; Give Mayrina the Wand

Mayrina and Connor will both be at Old Garlow’s. Instead of fighting to save Vanra, she also wants to change Connor from his zombie form. However, he will not revert after Ethel is gone, and Mayrina will continue looking for a cure after the game’s events unless you Persuade her (DC 10) to let him go and break the wand.

Revive Connor; Keep the Wand

Mayrina doesn’t seem to notice or acknowledge your theft in Act Three. Strangely enough, she’ll be cordial to you when you meet again at Old Garlow’s - same as in the ‘No Resurrection’ path.
