Even though mostResident Evilgames are short, Capcom packs them with hidden unlocks to keep you going through the campaign. It is a genius way to please both those who only like going through a dense story once and those who like to get a lot of hours from their purchase. Depending on the game, unlocking everything is easier said than done.

The Resident Evil games below will either test your skills or patience while trying to achieve 100 percent completion. For most gamers, they either want to get 100 percent because the unlocks are worth it or they enjoy the process of unlocking everything.

We are considering 100 percent completion to be obtaining every unlockable item, weapon, and costume and seeing all the endings. If there is an easter egg or hidden room that isn’t required for unlocking one of these, we won’t consider it necessary for 100 percent.

6Resident Evil Remake

Beating The Game In Under Three Hours

The remake of the debut entry in the series might be theperfect survival horror game. You will need to know it like the back of your hand if you have any hope of obtaining 100 percent completion.

You have to beat the game a minimum of four times to unlock everything, twice as Jill and twice as Chris. One of these times you have to beat it in under three hours. It is possible but will take some practice to do right. The game at least has enough mercy on you to let you do it on Normal difficulty.

Leon Kennedy entering the village in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake, like the original, is easily one of the longest games in the series.Unlocking everything not only requires multiple playthroughs, but you also have to get anS rank on every level with every character in The Mercenaries mode. Once you have a sound strategy down for a level, it works almost the same with every character, but unless you are an expert it will take you several attempts.

The Handcannon you unlock for completing Mercenaries will make every other unlock easier in the main game, which you will go through several times as you save up for one million Pesetas to buy the Infinite Rocket Launcher. Oh yeah, and you have to get thehighest rank in all the shooting galleries, which takes a lot of effort and skill.

The remake makes the list and not the original because there are more unlocks to find that have harder requirements, such as beating the game on the hardest difficulty with an S+ rank.

4Resident Evil 2

You Have To Beat The Game At Least Six Times

A lot of getting 100 percent in Resident Evil 2 boils down to becoming intimately familiar with both scenarios. To unlock all the hidden weapons you need tobeat one of the scenarios with an A ranking with the lightning-fast time of two and a half hoursfor the Infinite Rocket Launcher.

Do the same time without saving to unlock the Gatling Gun. To unlock the two minigames, The 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor, you have to beat both scenarios, getting at least an A rank on one of them. For the latter, you have to beat the game six times which can start to feel like an automatic process once you have the steps to completion down.

Even though the game finally has fully 3D environments and a moving camera, Resident Evil Code: Veronica’s gameplay remains similar to the PS1 trilogy. It is significantly longer than the three original titles, though, which makes obtaining an A rank a more daunting challenge.

Not only do you have tobeat the game in just four and a half hours with only saving once(which is reserved for when the game prompts you to save), but you also have to save theprison guard at the beginning of the game and save Steve quickly in the room with Gold Lugers.

Unlocking everything in Resident Evil Zero is pretty straightforward; just get anS rank on the main story and then an A rank on the Leech Hunter minigame modeyou unlock for beating the game. Doing the former is a lot harder than most other Resident Evil games because of the dual protagonist gameplay mechanic.

There are no item boxes so you just have to drop items down to make space and can come back for them later. This means you’re able to easily waste up to half an hour if you leave a key item behind and have to backtrack through the map to get it. One error like this and you just ruined your whole playthrough.

1Resident Evil 3

Getting Every Ending Is Hard, And Then You Have To Beat The Game At Least Seven Times

Compared to its two predecessors, Resident Evil 3 takes place on a larger scale and has more bombastic setpieces. That’s not to say it iswithout puzzles and tension, however. Getting everything in Resident Evil 3 is all about patience and making sure you don’t miss anything. You have to beat the game upwards of seven times to unlock all the epilogues.

Then, you have tocollect all the notebooks and diaries to unlock Jill’s Diary. Finally, there areseveral endings with specific requirements, which you almost certainly need a guide to do. Assuming you do everything right, you are beating the game at least seven times before you are done.
