Summary
While there’s no doubt thatRockstar Gamesspent an incredible amount of money onRed Dead Redemption 2, a significant portion of the studio’s resources must’ve been allocated to finding some of the best actors in the industry, as made evident by the incredible voices behind some of RDR2’s most memorable characters.
If you’ve grown attached to any of the main characters in RDR2’s main story, or perhaps more specifically, their voices, then you’ve hitched your curiosity to no finer spot than this humble web page. Folks must consider you a good navigator; the internet can feel as expansive as the Wild West did.

There are plenty of memorable characters you meet in Red Dead Redemption 2, but sadly, not every person you meet can be included. Although who you define as a “main” character may differ slightly from the characters mentioned, those who made the cut were evaluated for their roles and presence in the main story.
Major spoilers ahead; if you’re worried, there’s no better time than the present to start or finish your own playthrough of RDR2.

12Arthur Morgan
RDR2 wouldn’t be the same without Arthur Morgan, the gruff, imperfect main protagonist who doesn’t necessarily have to be defined by his oftentimes violent past. Arthur Morgan, however, wouldn’t be nearly as likable or immersive without the talented voice ofRoger Clark.
If you’re unfamiliar with Clark, a New Jersey native who ended up being raised in Ireland, there’s a chance you heard his voice inTactics Ogre: Reborn,Fort Solisas Jack Leary, or inBack 4 Blood. Did you know Clark has worked in over 40 different countries?

11Dutch Van Der Linde
Dutch is a well-dressed, charismatic man leading the Van Der Linde gang who frequently devises grand plans with the aim of finally making it big and ditching the outlaw life for good. Matching and projecting that charisma isBenjamin Byron Davis, an actor whose first video game appearance was in a radio commercial inGTA: San Andreas.
Since then, Davis has been able to land more impactful gigs, performing the voice of Dutch in the originalRed Dead Redemption, and Paul Kadarowski inL.A. Noire. While Davis' career has largely revolved around TV shows, it’d be great to see him again in future video games.

10John Marston
It wasn’t that much of a shock to see Rockstar Games loop John Marston, the incredibly popular main protagonist of RDR, into RDR2. Indiana nativeRob Wiethoffis the voice behind John Marston, an actor with a surprisingly limited acting history. However, sparse history isn’t a problem if you enjoy quality over quantity.
With Wiethoff being the voice of John Marston in RDR, it just makes sense that he’d be asked to play that role again. Wiethoff must really like Marston as a character, too, considering he agreed to do new voice lines eight years after RDR was originally released.

9Colm O’Driscoll
It’d be impossible to leave out Colm O’Driscoll, the infamous leader of the O’Driscoll gang that Dutch won’t let you forget. As it turns out, it’s hard to end a blood feud and let the past remain in the past since getting revenge by shedding more blood tends to get you caught in a vicious cycle.
While it’s a bit of a shock to seeAndrew Berg, a newcomer to the acting industry, voice such a pivotal character in RDR2, it makes more sense when you consider just how infrequently you hear Colm O’Driscolls voice at all; he’s quite elusive.

8Leviticus Cornwall
Well, it turns out your actions have consequences, and blowing up the train of the incredibly wealthy Leviticus Cornwall eventually bites you in the butt; those with immense wealth and capital don’t give up their place among the elites willingly, after all.
While he usually operates from the shadows growing his sugar empire or convincing Henry Favours to steal native land for oil extraction, Cornwall does, however, have the spine to address you and Dutch personally through the voice ofJohn Rue, an actor with a robust history involving over 35 productions.

7Andrew Milton
Andrew Milton is a seasoned Pinkerton with a short temper when it comes to cutting deals with the people he’s been hired to track down. To back that temper, Rockstar reached out toJohn Hickok, a veteran of the Law and Order TV show series who played Dr. Lyle Semenko, Danville, Dennis Roberts, and Mr. McGarrett.
It’s spectacular how accurately Hickok plays a Pinkerton; it’s almost like he was one in a past life, back when coal miners had to fight independent police forces for better wages, shorter work hours, and less exploitative conditions.

6Catherine Braithwaite
Catherine Braithwaite was willing to stoop as low as stealing a child, hiding them from their parents, and handing them over to another wealthy family; she shouldn’t be surprised that karma caught up to her and burned her lavish estate to the ground.
Fortunately, California nativeEllen Harvey, the voice for Braithwaite, doesn’t reflect such a corrupted moral compass. In fact, Harvey was seen in season two of the Gotham TV series, playing the role of a judge; perhaps she cares a lot about justice?

5Angelo Bronte
From chatting nonchalantly and drinking the finest liquor with suited men at his immaculate estate, to living out his last moments as he is drowned and fed to alligators, it’s hard to forget the eccentric Italian crimelord Angelo Bronte.
Although he’s American,Jim Pirriputs on a great accent for Bronte. Perhaps all his time spent voicing other characters in big titles, like Kraven fromSpider-Man 2, Captain Mathius fromDead Space, or Birgir fromGod of War: Ragnarok, allowed him to perfect his craft.

4Hercule Fontaine
Meeting Hercule Fontaine is almost like being thrown into a cutscene fromFar Cry 6, given his circumstance as a Haitian rebel forced to fight off the oppressors in his native land. Heck, they’re even fighting on an island, and the oppressors are Cuban; the region of Yara in Far Cry 6 is inspired by the region and climate Cuba is located in.
Hercule is voiced byGuyviaud Joseph, who couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for the role, given that he’s Haitian-American. Since Joseph only played a small part inGrand Theft Auto 5, this role was a big step up in his video game-related acting career.
3Henry Favours
It was pretty awesome seeing the Union Colonel Henry Favours fall; he got what he deserved, given that he was allegedly a coward in battle and made it clear during peace talks that he had no respect for the Native Americans in the game.
Perhaps in a strange twist of fate, Favours is voiced byMalachy Cleary, an actor primarily known for his role in shows like Manifest or The Deuce, who would look surprisingly similar to the old Union colonel if you gave him the same wild facial hair.
