It’s almost launch day for the new models ofPS5. Smaller versions of the base console, available with or without a disc drive, launch on November 10, so less than 24 hours from the time of writing. A few retailers are clearly expecting a bit of a rush when launch day arrives, setting up store pages ahead of time. Walmart is among them, listing theSpider-Man 2PS5 bundle which effectively includes a copy of the newest PS5 exclusive for no additional charge.
The new PS5 models have been labeled “slim” by some - it even says slim in the Walmart product description - however, as far as I’m aware,PlayStationhas been very careful not to use the word slim, simply labeling them updated models.

PlayStation revealed the prices of the slimmer version of its PS5 when the console was announced, confirming the disc version of the system will retail for $499.99. Walmart has the PS5 bundled with Spider-Man 2 listed for the exact same price. Actually, it’s a whole 99 cents cheaper. That means if you’re able to get your hands on one of the Spidey bundles, you’ll basically be getting the three-week-old game for free.
PlayStation 5 Disc Console - Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Bundle
This bundle includes the slimmer, disc-drive version of the PS5 and a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game is a digital copy an the bundle also includes one DualSense controller.
The only downside is the copy of Spider-Man 2 included with the bundle is a digital copy, so no selling it to try and offset the price of the console. If you already own a physical copy of Spider-Man 2 though, you could buy the new bundle and sell the game you already own. Then again, if you already have Spider-Man 2, that presumably means you already have a PS5 and you don’t need a new console. Unless you’re desperate to replace it with the newer, smaller model, of course.
The PS5 you get with this bundle does not include the Spider-Man cover, nor does it come with a Spider-Man DualSense. It’s simply a new PS5 model, with a regular white DualSense, and a digital copy of Spider-Man 2.
Walmart isn’t the only retailer to let its new PS5 pages go live ahead of launch day.Best Buy’s listing went live a few days ago, although much like Walmart, you won’t be able to buy the console until release day on November 10. PlayStation has also announced a detachable disc drive that will be sold separately. It’s not clear when exactly that will be available, but it’s possible it also goes on sale tomorrow alongside the two new models of console.
The disc drive has been a topic of controversy following its announcement after confirmation it needs to connect to the internet in order to function. Only one time so it can interact with a PlayStation server, but the fear is that the server will be shut down one day and any disc drives that haven’t been activated before then will become obsolete.
