Twitchhas lost yet another of its biggest stars, as popular streamerPokimanehas announced that she will be leaving the platform after calling it home for over a decade.
Pokimane announced this news via her personal Twitter account, in which she thanks the platform for “all the memories” and describes the move as “the end of an era”. She doesn’t provide any further details about what’s next in her streaming career, or any potential platforms she may be moving to, though it doesn’t seem as though this post is a retirement announcement similar to that ofother popular creators such as Tom Scott and MatPat.

While this may be quite surprising to those of you who haven’t been keeping up with Pokimane over the past couple of years, it’s probably not too shocking for her fans. Pokimane has mentioned previously that she’s finding it difficult to balance her private life and other work commitments with also being a full-time streamer, even going so far as to announcea cut back on Twitch streams in late 2022. She’s been distancing herself for the platform for some time, and her full departure was probably written on the wall for a lot of fans.
Right now, the only missing information we need is what Pokimane’s streaming career is going to look like going forward. From the wording of her tweet, it feels very much like she’s setting up on a different streaming service, possibly YouTube rather than Kick as she’s beenvocal about her dislike of the platform and those on it in the past. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to find out, as Pokimane also revealed that she’ll have a new video up explaining the details tomorrow.
As for Twitch itself, it may be putting on a brave face and wishing Pokimane the best in her future endeavors, but this will be a massive blow for the platform. Twitch has been losing its biggest creators at a steady pace for a few years now, whether that be down to just simple retirement or rival platform Kick poaching streamers like Amouranth and xQc with massive contracts. Many considered Pokimane to be the face of the platform, and her departure will have a significant impact on a platform that isalready losing moneyandlaying off employees.
