Pokemongames have provided us with a mixed bag on theNintendo Switch. As the console’s sever-year run potentially nears its end, Pokemon leaves behindSword & Shield,Scarlet & Violet, andPokemon Unite, among other titles. Suffice to say, if you’ve missed out on anything Pokemon has had to offer during the Switch era, now is the time to catch up, especially with some of the biggest games now available for less than ever before.

Right now, Shining Pearl is available for just $29.99. Half its usual price and the lowest it has ever been listed onAmazon. It’s also available for that little atGameStopif you’d prefer where its partner game Brilliant Diamond is also on sale for the same price. Unsure why, but even though Brilliant Diamond is also on sale at Amazon, its price hasn’t dropped to the same record low as Shining Pearl.

Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlare remakes of Diamond & Pearl that weren’t celebrated with quite as much vigor as certain other Pokemon games. That doesn’t mean they’re not worth playing though, especially when you can buy them for half the price that most others paid. We’re also in a Pokemon game drought right now with whatever’s coming next not yet announced, so the perfect time to grab a game you skipped while we wait for news.

Pokemon Shining Pearl

WHERE TO PLAY

Shining Pearl was one of two remakes that launched on Nintendo Switch based on Diamond & Pearl. Released alongside Brilliant Diamond, the games let Pokemon fans return to a polished version of the Sinnoh region.

There’s also a chance the reason the Pokemon games above are on sale is because they are out of print. Physical copies of certain games -including New Pokemon Snap- appear to be scarce right now, sparking rumors thatNintendohas stopped making them as it shifts its focus to manufacturing cartridges for its next console. No confirmation of that from anywhere official, but it’s a possibility, and one that might mean these Pokemon games, and others, aren’t readily available in the near future.

While Switch games disappearing isn’t something that has been confirmed, the end is officially nigh for Pokemon TV. The free streaming service, which carries various seasons of the anime as well as a few movies, will be shutting down in March and is no longer available to download. That makes finding where to watch the anime even harder than ever before, which is whywe’ve put together a guide on where exactly you need to go to watch itfrom season one all the way through to season 25.
