TheNintendo Switchhas played host to a lot ofPokemongames that will be remembered for years to come, sticking in the memory for good and bad reasons.Sword & Shieldwere somewhat celebrated,Legends: Arceuswas a hit, andScarlet & Violet, yeah, maybe not so much. The latest Pokemon gamesdid shift ten million copies in three daysthough, so I can’t imagine The Pokemon Company is all that upset about the issues players had with them.
Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlweren’t exactly showered with praise at launch either and since the sales of Scarlet & Violet quickly surpassed those of theDiamond & Pearlremakes, I’m assuming a lot of you decided to skip BDSP. If you did, and you now want to plug the Pokemon gaps in your Switch library beforeNintendomoves on, there has never been a time to do so.GameStopis selling Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for half price, or even cheaper if you’re a Pro member.

Usually $59.99, the Sinnoh games have had their prices cut in half to $29.99 each, Pro membership or not. If you are a Pro member, then you can knock an additional $10 off the price, bringing them down to just $19.99 each. No, they’re not the best Pokemon games ever made - they’re not even the best Pokemon games on Switch - but if you’re a Pokemon fan who hasn’t played them before, looking for something to do over the holidays, $20 is still an absolute steal.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond
WHERE TO PLAY
Brilliant Diamond is a remake of Pokemon Diamond for Nintendo Switch. The reimagined and upscaled version of the game is the partner title of Shining Pearl, the remake of Pokemon Pearl which was released alongside Diamond.
Although Nintendo hasn’t confirmed when the Switch’s successor will be revealed, or that it even exists at all, it feels like Pokemon may well wave goodbye to the console this week. The Indigo Disk, the final part of Scarlet & Violet’s DLC launches on Thursday and may well be the last new Pokemon content exclusively for the Switch. Skipping the holiday season when it comes to new releases, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the only new video game content Pokemon fans are getting to close out the year.

Pokemon Shining Pearl
Shining Pearl was one of two remakes that launched on Nintendo Switch based on Diamond & Pearl. Released alongside Brilliant Diamond, the games let Pokemon fans return to a polished version of the Sinnoh region.
Even though there aren’t any new Pokemon games on the horizon, the bigger Pokemon wheel never stops turning.Terapagos will get not one, but two debut plusheslater this week, Pokemon Concierge hitsNetflixon December 28, andthe Pokemon TCG’s Paldean Fates expansion will be here in early 2024.
