Summary
Pokemonkicked off 2024 by revealingit has six new, potentially pearlescent, Funko Pops coming soon, starting with Lucario. However, it seems six shiny new figures aren’t all we’re getting to start the year. A first look at three all-new non-pearlescent Pops has now been revealed, marking Funko debuts for Luxray, Grookey, and Wooloo.
Funko Pop News was one of many accounts dedicated to the figures to be among the first to share images of the new Pops. Luxray has a menacing look etched on its face, Grookey is giving us a wave, and Wooloo looks a little vacant, which tracks. A follow-up from the same account claims the new Pokemon Pops, along with a few other new figures (a Baby Animal Muppets Pop! among them), will be available to buy through various retailers starting from noon EST on Wednesday.
No price details about the Pops have been revealed yet either, although it’s likely the trio of new figures will be $14.99 each out the gate. Although Pokemon Pop! prices vary greatly over time, that tends to be the standard for regular-sized Pokemon Funko Pops. More importantly, it will further your ability to catch ‘em all in another way, because for some of us, doing it through video games, trading cards, and plushes just isn’t enough.
Pops, plushes, and cards rank higher than games right now in 2024 when it comes to catching ‘em all. Nothing to report on the video game front for Pokemon yet this year, but lots pretty much everywhere else in the Pokemon world. Trading cards especially withthe release of the Iron Jugulis Knock Out Collectiongetting things started last week. The Paldea Adventure Chest is coming soon too, as isthe Paldean Fates expansion, the first big milestone in 2024 for the TCG.
Funko has had a very busy start to 2024 too, and not just because Pokemon is keen to give us new Pops. Sonic, who didn’t have many figures at all before this,is getting a lot of new figures, Super Shadow and a Deluxe Ride Dr. Eggman among them. Apparently, people want Valentine’s-themed figures too, andSpider-Man and Scarlet Witch have expanded on that particular arm of Marvel’s Pop! collection.
