A reliable gaming insider has claimed that aNintendo Directis likely to happen in February and that we’re going to be getting aState of Playpresentation from PlayStation “in the next few weeks”.
After a few weeks of quiet following The Game Awards, it looks like we’re finally getting back in the swing of things for gaming news. Not only are there numerous big games releasing over the coming weeks, but it looks like we’re going to be getting a sneak peek of what’s to come for the rest of the year soon too.

As pointed out by Redditor NeonG95 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, this is according to reliable gaming insider Jeff Grubb, who recently talked about upcoming presentations from gaming publishers and developerson the latest episode of Giant Bomb’s Bomb Cast. While discussing what Xbox has planned, Grubb noted that he’s also expecting a Nintendo Direct in February and a State of Play from PlayStation “in the coming weeks”.
Grubb said that we can “always count” on a Nintendo Direct happening in February and that that’s something we can expect to see this year once again. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering Nintendo runs like clockwork andalways has a Nintendo Direct at the start of the year, but it’s nice to see reports of it happening for any naysayers.
Xbox also just announced that it’s going to be holding a Developer Direct on January 18, so it looks like it’s going to be a stacked few weeks of gaming events.
That isn’t all that’s happening in the next month, however. Grubb also noted that he’s heard that a State of Play is coming from PlayStation “in the next few weeks”. He did note that he’s not sure when exactly it’s going to be happening, but that there is one currently cooking. Again, this isn’t too surprising considering PlayStation usually has one at the start of the year, but it should be a good chance to see what it’s working on.
That being said, it’s worth not getting your hopes up too much for whatever PlayStation ends up showing. Grubb noted as much during his discussion, saying that they feel like “contractual obligations” and that it could end up being “disappointing” for fans. Anyone who has watched a State of Play certainly knows this to be true, but let’s hope that this year’s early one can top 2023’s,which infamously gave us our first look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
