How good or bad you feltThe Game Awardswere this year depends entirely on what you watch it for. If you want your favourite games to win, you probably had a good time - a lot of crowd pleasers won, and better yet, for the most part, the winners felt like the right picks even in hotly contested categories. If you watched it to celebrate those winners though, you’re out of luck - speeches were cut short, if they happened at all....

The Last of Us Online, which we’d all been calling Factions 2 anyway, hasbeen cancelledbySonyandNaughty Dog. It means a lot of hard work has been thrown out, and I hope the silver lining is to stop over-complicating multiplayer with live-service elements and battle passes designed to last forever. A little side game that’s just TLOU with friends (like Factions) was all we ever needed and, truthfully, wanted. But what I want to talk about today is not the past, but the future....

Summary It’s hard enough watching a longanimeseries, but try sitting through one with thousands of episodes. The longevity of anime is astounding, since some have been airing for decades and are among the longest-running TV shows of all time. Not every anime has such a lengthy life, but those that do have more episodes than any other animated series. While many of the longest-running anime series are worldwide legends, others are more obscure in the West, given that they have never left Japan....

Tron: Identitycontinues Bithell Games’ streak of making pretty good games with unambiguously great minigames. Three years ago, the developer put outThe Solitaire Conspiracyamidst the pandemic. It was a decent FMV game (starring Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller), but those video interstitials were much less interesting than the terrific take on solitaire it offered up. Tron: Identity, similarly, is a solid visual novel set in the Tron universe. I’ve actually never seen either of the Tron movies — which is embarrassing to admit as a sci-fi lover and Joseph Kosinski fan — but the game does a good job of evoking a cyberpunk setting on a low budget....

Summary It seems that no matter how hard I try, I can’t escape the Steam Deck. To make sure that I have access to all the games I could possibly want to play, I have an Xbox, a PS5, a Nintendo Switch, and a PC. I’ve made no secret about PC being my least favourite platform – sitting in one spot for hours at a time is a drag, and I like to be able to move around my room freely while I play games....

I have to give Twitch some credit. I know, that’s rare, especially for me. This week’s update to the community guidelines for content classification labels is a positive change that provides clarity to the rules, which will lead to more equitable outcomes when it comes to enforcement. Gamers aren’t happy to see Twitch further giving in and allowing more adult content on the platform, but this was really the only choice Twitch had....
