An unannouncedDeus Exgame has reportedly been cancelled, with many of its developers laid off. The layoffs are seemingly part of Embracer Group’s ongoing cost-cutting measures, leaving hundreds of its developers jobless not long after the company started acquiring numerous studios across the gaming industry. In a report fromBloomberg, anonymous workers at Eidos Interactive say that Embracer has scrapped a new Deus Ex game after two years of development, just as it was set to enter production....

God of Warcreator David Jaffe has expressed his unhappiness with the current direction of the God of War series, and Kratos in particular, as he thinks the feelings and personal lives of the developers at Santa Monica have negatively impacted the character. In a recent video on Jaffe’s official YouTube channel (thanks80 Level), he claims that while he enjoyed the first God of War reboot game, he doesn’t actually want the character of Kratos to grow as the developers and fanbase get older....

Hideo Kojimadoesn’t want to retire, saying that creating games is “living”. These comments come on the eighth anniversary of his independent studio,Kojima Productions, with Kojima opening up on how it feels to have more freedom over his work life. In fact, he says that he no longer considers game development to be work. In a message on social media, Kojima says, “That’s why there is no retirement.
