Magic: The Gathering’s100th expansion, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, is set to launch on April 19. When I playedControlback in 2019, I (along with most people who played the game) was impressed by the quality of the world-building Remedy did to make the Oldest House a believably weird setting. There were the videos of Dr. Casper Darling, walking the player through various experiments he was undertaking as he went further and further down the rabbit hole. There were the bizarre puppet shows starring the unsettling Threshold Kids....

Controllers are incredibly innovative and advanced in 2023. ThePS5’s DualSenseis arguably the biggest advantage it has over theSeries X, andNintendo’s Joy-Con - potential drift aside - have continued the studio’s run of setting itself apart from the competition through its peripherals. Those advances come at a price though, and most of today’s controllers cost a lot of money. They don’t have to though, nor do cheaper options have to be boring....
