Summary
In celebration ofOne Piece’s 1,000th chapter, fans were asked to send in their votes of who their favorite character is, andthe results were tallied in the One Piece Worldwide Top 100 Poll published by the manga’s publisher, Shueisha.
Most of the time, whenever a series holds a popularity poll, fans overwhelm the results with meme picks, but the One Piece list is accurate in how much fans love these characters. Although some of the Straw Hats dominate the list, there are some pleasant surprises in it, like some of Luffy’s most trusted companions he meets on his journey through the Grand Line.

These results were determined by votes during Shueisha’s One Piece World Top 100 poll, so the rankings reflect those points. In addition to that, if you’re not caught up with One Piece’s storylines, there are possible spoilers ahead!

As the heir of the Flame Flame Fruit, Sabo has cemented his position as one of the most popular characters in One Piece, according to fans. His reintroduction in Dressrosa and his involvement in the Reverie have expanded upon his story, making him even more likable.

Nw known as the “Flame Emperor” and second in command of the Revolutionary Army, he has plenty to offer in the series as far as plot development goes and filling the hole that Ace left.

As soon as Ace was introduced in the Alabasta arc, fans fell head over heels for him. Luffy’s older brother looking out for him as soon as he found out he earned himself a bounty is but one of the wholesome characteristics that fans love about Fire Fist Ace.
Sadly, his journey was cut short during the Marineford arc, but the love fans hold for him will not go away. A fire user will always melt the hearts of anime fans everywhere.

Carrot, interestingly enough, did not seem like she would rank in the top ten of the popularity poll. At first, she seemed like comedic relief that would complement Chopper in the funny animal department, but she went on to mesh so well with the Straw Hats, that fans began to theorize that she could be the next character to join Luffy and his crew.

Although she began as a bit of a cowardly rabbit, once she revealed her Sulong form, a transformation that Minks can undergo under a full moon, she showed her true colors as a strong warrior who can protect her friends and land.

The only female pirate among the Seven Warlords Of The Sea, the Snake Princess, Boa Hancock is one of the most powerful pirate captains that Luffy meets. Her harsh attitude towards men combined with her Love-Love Fruit, which can be used to turn people into stone, makes Hancock a fan-favorite.
Being such a strong pirate with powers that closely resemble the mythical Medusa, Eiichiro Oda, One Piece’s author, had to do something so that her powers wouldn’t get out of hand. Just like the rest of the world, Hancock falls in love with Luffy’s carefree demeanor.

Starting off as a villain and the second in command toBaroque Works’ Crocodile, Nico Robin is the Straw Hats’ resident archeaologist and the only one in the crew that can decipher the mysterious poneglyphs.

Robin ate the Flower-Flower Fruit, giving her the ability to replicate any of her body parts onto any surface. Although she tries to avoid combat most of the time, she trained under Koala of the Revolutionary Army to learn Fish-Man Karate, making her just as able in combat as any of the Straw Hat members.

The broodiest and edgiest boy in the series, Trafalgar Law has a reason to be so cold towards everyone. He has one of the saddest backstories in the series and one of the strongest Devil Fruit powers.
He wields the Op-Op Fruit, and it allows Law to create a “surgery room” where he can cut up and move anything inside of it as he wills. It can even grant anyone eternal life through surgery that costs the holder their own life.

As one of the wings of the future pirate king, Black Leg Sanji deserves to be this high on the list. Not only is he the only cook who can keep up with Luffy’s ravenous hunger, but he can throw a mean kick or two at any enemies standing in his way, unless they are women, of course.
Without the use of a Devil Fruit, Sanji has been able to defend his captain and help him stay alive throughout their travels in the New World.

Arguably the most important member of the Straw Hats and the reason for the crew’s success is Nami. Without the navigator’s help with traversing the roaring seas, the crew, half of whom cannot swim, would be dead in the water.
Even though she tends to run away from most fights scared for her life, her intelligence and weather knowledge have helped her through some arduous battles. Plus, being one of the first Straw Hats has a special place in fans’ hearts. Especially with her role during Arlong Park.

Zoro is the first Straw Hat that Luffy recruits on his journey to become the king of the pirates, but he is also one of the main reasons why he has been successful so far. Zoro is sailing the sea to see Luffy become the king, but also to fulfill his promise to his late friend, of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world.
Using his iconic “three-sword style,” the former pirate hunter is able to cut down any foe with the help of hislegendary blades.

The captain himself. It’s obvious that the protagonist is going to be the most popular character in the series, but it couldn’t be any more true with Luffy. Monkey D. Luffy exemplifies everything that the series represents: true and absolute freedom.
The carefree stretchy boy can come off as careless, but his demeanor can quickly change once he finds people in danger or being disparaged by an oppressor in their country. Shonen protagonists are always characterized by a pure heart, but Luffy’s is the purest it can be.
