Bethesdahas a very well-deserved reputation for releasing games that are more than a little buggy. Granted, they’re not Cyberpunk 2077 levels of broken, but games likeOblivionandSkyrimhave just enough jank to make exploring their respective worlds a lot of fun. Oblivion is a greater offender than Skyrim in that regard, a game that may as well be cobbled together with glue and bits of string, but the state the game’s in right now makes it absolutely hilarious in the most unexpected ways.
Over the years, hundreds of completely bizarre clips have convinced fans that Oblivion is the undisputed king of “unintentional comedy”. A new trend was kicked off by Twitter user DaveOshry, who replied to a clip of Oblivion claiming its humor is completely unmatched to this day. It seems as though social media at large agrees, as fans have been bombarding the platform with ridiculous clips of the game showcasing some of the bizarre things that have been captured since release.
The sheer variety of nonsense being shared is truly impressive, and videos range from weird glitches, bizarre interactions with NPC, characters accidentally killing themselves, and a lot more. For example, take the video shared by Twitter user ElectricMule of a random Nord who is stood in a huge pile of snow, whilst also ranting about how he needs more snow in his life. The video then cuts to a poor Wood Elf buried up to his neck in snow, the camera zooming into his face as he eerily says"indeed".
There are loads of instances like that, so we’ll switch up to some glitches. Yep, there are plenty of examples of those too, many of which are displayed in a video shared by Twitter user Drowningmchn. There’s quite a lot to unpack in it too, mostly the archery skills of the man in question, who appears to be trying to fire arrows at a dummy right in front of him. He then says he’s not very good at archery, starts whacking the dummy with the bow itself, and then the guy behind the dummy randomly glitches and flies off.
There are so many examples that we can’t actually share all the videos here, but you’ll find plenty of them by checking out the Quote Tweets of DaveOshry’s tweet. There arecharacters killing themselves, knocking themselves unconscious, animal abuse, murder, and pretty much everything else you can think of that could potentially lead to a piece of slapstick gold. It’s absolutely everywhere in Oblivion, and it makes it one of the funniest games out there.
