Nintendohas been pushingSwitchsales as much as ever this holiday season, possibly due to the fact this will be the last holiday season before the Switch is effectively replaced.A new Mario Red OLED model was released,Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundles were sold- a holiday tradition at this point - andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatehas been bundled with a Smash-themed OLED Switch. Not a holiday tradition, and that the bundles remain in stock and are available for less might suggest it hasn’t sold as well as Nintendo expected.

The OLED Switch with Smash Joy-Con and a copy of Ultimate retails for $349.99. Nintendo probably won’t be dropping that price anytime soon, but if you buy the bundle fromGameStopright now, you can get it for $25 less. GameStop is running an offer where customers can save $25 if they spend more than $250 in one transaction, and since the Smash OLED bundle costs $350, it comfortably clears that threshold.

There is a caveat, but unless you live nowhere near a GameStop, it’s a minor inconvenience. The $25 saving only applies when you pick your items up in-store. You don’t need to bank on the bundles being in stock before you leave the house. You can place your order online through the link below and when you proceed to checkout, you’ll see your options. Free shipping, deliver today, or the option that should be automatically applied (although make sure you double check) opting to pick up in-store and get $25 off your bundle and whatever else you’re buying.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Switch OLED Model Bundle

A Nintendo Switch OLED that not only comes with a copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but also the black and grey Smash-themed dock and Joy-con.

That Nintendo has chosen now to start including Smash Ultimate in bundles is surprising for two entirely different reasons. On the one hand, it should have been doing this for years. Smash Bros. has been a Nintendo system seller for more than two decades. On the other hand, with time ticking on the lifecycle of the Switch, it’s odd that they chose to pull the trigger on a Smash OLED bundle now and didn’t just leaveMario KartandMario Wonderto push Switch sales through the end of 2023 and into 2024.

While new Mario Kart and Mario games on whatever comes next are almost guaranteed, the future of Smash remains in limbo. Ultimate feels like the series' final form, and with Masahiro Sakurai semi-retired, he may not come back and make another Smash game from scratch. You have to think Smash will continue whatever comes next, but what exactly it’ll look like remains a mystery.
